Yea, it used to be free back when Jenn was doing it. I got mine from her within a month. But, if I remember correctly(its been a few years), she got delayed cause the legal dept didnt like it, then she got the go ahead to do it, but she went on maternity leave, and that was it. Someone new took over, and as far as I know, thats where it ended. Though it was good though, I got the vehicle invoice, with the dealer name, date purchased, price, options, etc.

I'm just saying that this thread was originally to get your invoice for free through someone at GM, well, this hasn't been possible for some time now. You have to pay now...just get ahold of PHS.

Cool... The invoice shows ship date, all options & prices, what dealer it shipped to. also shows it was built on an order. MSRP was over 19K.

I'll try & copy it onto the compuer later

I took the info off a Chevelle website

here it is: Dealer Invoice Service

It gives you the Email address & a form you download & fill out to GM. I filled it out & emailed it with my credit card #.

Good luck

You guys still getting basically free invoices or what ?

I found a place on the net PHS or Pontiac Historic Services.
They want $30 for an invoice and some other stuff
(filler...if you ask me).

I contacted them just wanting the $35 window sticker but they won't sell that without first spending the 30 on the dealer invoice ? So for a total of 65 dollars to get my window sticker, that's bs forcing you to buy something you don't want at all.

Anybody have another supplier for window stickers ? Thx

THe PHS packet has a lot of filler, things like why we have window stickers and why they were introduced in the 50's. It also has:
- FIrebird Production numbers thru 2002
- Engine Production numbers thru 1990
- MVMA Specifications of the Car. All of the specs
- A Window Sticker Order Form
- Pontiac-Oakland Clum Membership form
- Mine had a Press release from 1989
- Storage suggestions for less than and more than 30 days
- A Dealer Order worksheet, spells out all of the options for that year
- Dealer Invoice Includes Invoice amount, MSRP, DEaler Name & Address, VIN, Options short list.

I don't think most would be interested in over half that stuff. They are just trying to make you feel better for the 30 bucks you just spent.

I want JUST the window sticker but they won't budge without the dealer invoice first.

PHS refuses to budge on this. He keeps insisting that GM
makes the rules and he has to have the dealer invoice FIRST to print the window sticker.

Problem with this story is he gets all the info to print the invoice from the VIN so it could be looked up then print the darn invoice right then so he would be happy....then go ahead and print the window sticker.

Instead their policy is to force you to pay $30 for the dealer invoice and a lot of filler info, then reapply for
the window sticker at $35.

When asked repeatedly why he couldn't go from step A-C
skipping step B ( the dealer invoice) or just print the invoice for his purposes on the spot and then print the window sticker he took offense and offered no explanation.

I tried repeatedly for a reasonable explanation. Sadly it looks like it is just one of those GREEDY situations.

Chances are it was a "PEP" car... My 90 Riviera was one of these. How it works is an employee of GM, purchases a car, gets the options they want then another Employee, such as an engeneer or executive, drives the car for 4000 miles. They do all of the maintenece and have everything fixed before you take delivery. The benefit to this is if there are any problems the dealerships do not get involved (for the first 4000 miles). The Engeneer or Executive takes the car to a GM service station, and any problems are replaced, NOT fixed like they are at a dealership. For example, if there is a problem with a steering pump, instead of the dealership trying to Fix the pump to get it out the door cheep they will replace the pump without any questions.

The benefit is you get the car at a discounted rate. I am not sure of the discount.

Of course by the time you get the car you take it to a dealership like any other car and you get the full warrenty. My dads best friend worked for GM SPO, he used to work with te engeneers and executives to service the cars, I beleve he was also one of the drivers of these cars as a perk. I got to drive a bunch of newer cars before he retired...

Thats probably what happened. Check the CARFAX, if there is an odometer reading around 4000 miles then thats probably the case.

Re: Factory Invoice for YOUR car....

Thanks John.I did a CARFAX just for fun and it goes back to 1990 when it had 37000 miles. That is how far back my state title search went back. They sent records for a Dodge shadow for the vehicle before that!So I guess the only thing to do is hunt down the owner in 1990 and try to go back farther.I dread doing that since I would hate for this lady to think I'm a stalker! ....BILL
