| Factory Invoice for YOUR car.... For those of you that do not have any factory documentation on your car... GREAT NEWS!!!!! I have hit the jackpot!!!!!!
You can get an invoice thru this source. They only can recreate invoices (only Dealer Invoice) from 1978 and up car/trucks. Some 1977 data is available but most 1977 and earlier was purged from the system long time ago.
Must have the correct VIN, triple check it before sending it. GMMA.research@gm.com
1-800-851-8984.
There is only 1 girl that does this and it may take some time for her to search for it. She has done both my 82 Pace Car and my 87 Iroc. It will list all the options and also the original dealership to which it was sent. It also list the MSRP of the options along with the Invoice price.
Best of all......it is FREE!!!
I thought is sounded a little too good to be true, but I emailed my VIN numbers and sure enough, received a envelope from GM Media Archives in the mail a few weeks later with the invoice. I recommend it to everyone without original paperwork to verify any original or rare options.
WooooWoooo
Tom

For a Trans Am, you still may have to get it from PHS, as they handle such Pontiac information requests for GM. I got the info on all of my Trans Am's free from the Archive, but I did all of the research there myself. It is worth a try anyhow. Best try it ASAP, though. If they start getting flooded with requests, it may not be free for long. |

| Uh-oh... Uh-oh...I'm the chick from the GM Media Archive and my inbox is FULL! Let me add a few more details to what Tom said...I unfortunately don't have invoices for 2000 to current and I don't have anything on Canadian-built vehicles. Keep the requests coming! I'll see what I can do, but pleae be patient: I usually only get about a dozen requests a year, and I'm working on that many right now! The invoices are just a tiny part of my overall Archive, and I'm always working on photos for some documentary or article, too... |

| One more thing... Also, I need the model year of the vehicle when you submit your VIN...I can search LOT faster for your invoice if I don't have to decode the VIN first.
Thanks! |

| Grr... I'm having a really bad morning today...I just heard from the lady who actually pulls the invoices from microfilm that she doesn't think it's a good idea to release these on such a large scale, and she copied just about everyone in the world on her e-mail message. I'm just warming all of you that I may not be able to get my hands on these, at least not right away. I think it's baloney, but we all know how huge corps. like GM work...one person throws up a roadblock, we have to hire a consulting firm to come in and do an assessment, management gets involved, blah blah blah...I'm ranting but I can't help it. We've been releasing these on a small, ad hoc scale for years...why stop now? We have the info, why not share it with the people who care about it the most: the collectors who actually own these cars?
OK, I'll get off my soapbox. I'll keep you posted... |

Car: Race car Engine: Internal Combustion Transmission: Static | I got one of those back in about 94 for my car. I called a few different numbers at Pontiac and GM and finally got connected to someone that sent me a copy of the dealer invoice. Pretty cool. I'm sure it wouldnt be a Chevy only deal, no reason they would have kept an invoice on an 8 year old car unless they do it equally... IMO of course. |

Tell your boss that there's a whole lot of loyal GM owners/enthusiasts that are depending on your support! If there is something we can do to help you out (someone we can protest to higher up the ladder), let us know.
By the way, welcome to the forum! |

| Not lookin' good... Well fellas (and any ladies who might be out there)...it's not looking good. Apparently there are three issues...
1. Release of "highly confidential" information to the public: the issue has been raised that these invoices contain confidential information about the vehicle, such as price and the dealer it was shipped to. I can't understand why on a car from the late 1970's this would be an issue, but I've proposed just blanking out the cost of the vehicle/options. I don't see how releasing the name of the dealership is so bad, and I've said that too. Would you guys be opposed to signing a one-page doc that states you're not using this invoice for anything other than your own inforamtion, or something like that, before we send you the invoice? I think that might fly with the powers-that-be at GM Legal who are worried about this.
2. Outside of our scope of work: the second issue is that this is outside of the scope of what the GM Media Archive has been set up for. FYI, my workload here typically consists of photo and copyright research for the news media, internal GM folks, and for commercial purposes. A VERY small percentage of what we do is for enthusiasts, and some people here feel that this invoice collection takes up our already-stressed resources for something that's not technically in our "scope". OK...
3. And of course, they're raising flags about COST. Most of my time is billable to one commercial project or another, and if I'm spending my time on something, I ought to be billable. Ugh. I knew this would happen. But we're not Pontiac Historical Services. We don't do this as our primary function. We ought to do this for goodwill, etc. I'm just saying.
Oh boy could I ever get into trouble for this post...anyway, can I get some feedback from the people who are using these invoices (YOU)? How would you respond to these three issues?
Thanks! |

| 1. I would have no problem with certian info being blocked out. I would like to see the original selling price of the car, however. I would be willing to sign a legal document stating that I would only use the invoice to ad to my collection of infomation about my car.
2. I do not know how to answer that one to make the higher-ups happy. I could only say that this service would help with GM's customer relations. I still have many new cars to buy in my life, to include my dream car of a new 'Vette.
3. Cost..........hmmmm, how about a service fee for each one? I know that I would be willing to pay for mine. I do not know how much you make, or what your billing policies are, but I am sure that most would agree that a fee of $5-10 would suffice.
Hope this helps a little.

Car: 87 IROC-Z Engine: 305 TPI Transmission: automatic Axle/Gears: 3.23 | I would be willing to state that I am only going to use the information for myself.
I also would be willing to pay a service fee.
Most of us here already know what options our cars came with and what they cost. It's in the Camaro White Book.
I'll bet that a lot of us know what dealership our car was originally delivered to. I do for mine.

| The principle... For me, it's the principle of the matter. We have them, so why not share them? We send this info to law enforcement all the time, and the only other people who might be interested in this one little part of GM history is the collectors. Whom, by the way, are the ones who are loyal to our brands and will buy them now and in the future. We ought to be doing everything we can to make you guys happy. |

Anyways, I'd be willing to sign something. And a small fee isn't an issue either.

Car: 1986 IROC-Z, 1990 RS Engine: 383 Stroker TPI, 350 About To Go In Transmission: 700R4 W/ Shift Kit And Stall, 700R4 W/ Shift Kit | I myself will sign anything to help you.
I sent you my year and VIN the other day (jensenthrasher527@hotmail.com) and I was the one that you had to e-mail back and ask what kinda f-body
I think it's one thing to take the F-body away from us(Hurt all of us here alot), and 2nd now they want to take away a damn invoice for the car WE payed for!?!?!?
I hope you do not get into any trouble over this and if in fact I think I speak for everyone here when I say if there is anything we can do, say, or sign to help you in anyway all you have to do is ask.
I know all you wanted to do was help us get a little history of our car's and I sure do thank you for it...And indeed somone always want's to ruin and take away the good in people.
If GM does not have anymore respect than this for their customers, Then I think I'll buy a rustang next time...AT LEAST FORD CIRCLES THE PROBLEM. Seems GM wants to hide everything from us.
Crazy
Jen, This was a real sweet thing for you to do sticking your neck out for us...
Again anything I can help with just hollar...
