Even after they stopped producing them the mounts are still in the console on 86-89 cars (not sure about 90-92) they just wern't used anymore.
They usually fetch around $50 on ebay.

My 92 Z28 is an original CD player car (RPO U1C) but by the time it got to me it had one with white letters in it.
I replaced it with one from a 4th gen.
I can upload some pics if anyone is interested.

Is the hinged rear hatch cover rare? I had one with the delco-bose system in it, along with the front delco-bose kick panels with the speakers in them. I sold them on e-bay a while ago. Guess I should have held on to that stuff.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned any L69-specific parts yet!
They might not have been produced in low numbers (in total) but they are getting pretty damn hard to find now. Stuff like:
- Air Cleaner
- Scoops + Ducts for said air cleaner
- "better" exhaust manifolds
And there is the other stuff too, like:
- 1LE Aluminum Driveshaft
- 1LE Baffled Fuel Tank
- Fibreglass Z28 hood
- Aluminum Firebird hood
- T10 4-speed Transmission
- V8 T5 that works
- Any T5 that works
- Mechanical Clutch Linkage parts
But like I said... most of this stuff was never rare 10-15 years ago, but it certainly is now.

Most of these parts you guys are listing aren't very rare, or even hard to find, unless you need them. Most of them do show up in the junkyards you just have to spend a lot of time looking around and you have to catch the cars when they first arrive.
I'd put obtainable pace car and older thirdgen parts at the top of my rare list. As far as parts I've never seen in a junkyard, or auction, I'd say 91-92 T/A or GTA parts. Aluminum driveshafts, 1LE brakes, V8 5spd's, etc.
I'd have to say console clocks, overhead consoles, L69 aircleaners, hollow 34-36mm bars, hinged cargo covers, etc are off the endangered species list... The clocks are extremely common in base model Camaro's, the consoles can be found in any berlinetta and most early GTA's, T/A's, Z28's, etc. L69 aircleaners come up about once a year. The sway bars can be filed under the catagory of growing on trees, same with the cargo covers.
Most of the stuff people consider rare, isn't worth any $$$. I've bought a lot of the stuff listed to resell only to have the damn things laying in my way for a year or more sometimes. Hell, even now I've got overhead consoles and a fiberglass Z28 hood in my way.

Since we are talking about rare parts I've got a question. Above I stated I was looking for a CD player. tta1415 said he had one and I ended up buying it off him. My question is what application was this radio originally used in. He pulled it from his Camaro, but it's obvious by the font that it's not an original 91-92 Camaro unit. My first guess would have been that it came from a Firebird, but I think the Firebird units had different looking buttons. The only difference I see here is font color. My curiosity is killing me. The closest match I could find online, http://www.mnrelectronics.com/pa1695olsiam.htm , is from a 1995 Oldsmobile, but the one I have clearly shows a manufacture date of 1991 on it, and is not the same model number. Based on appearance though I'd have to conclude that the unit I have was original equipment in some 1991 Oldsmobile.
Here is a pic of mine.

Notice the hood pop lever is still in the same place!

Glad you like it, I had my car about a week before I realized it was wrong
I ended up installing one out of a 4th gen to replace it.. the letters are still white but I think it looks better than an aftermarket one.
FYI, I had to clearance the air conditioning ducts in the console to get a 4th gen radio in though. My TTA and 91 TA vert both took a 4th gen radio without any clearance issues.
Now that I think about it 93's had yellow letters too didn't they.. hmmm
#41
Yeah I'm still in the same boat with my 90 in that I've still got to find one with yellow lettering. I didn't know the 93's had the yellow font too so that gives me another option. And yeah I'm happy with the purchase from you. Thanks again. Now I've just got to get it fixed. I found a place I think I'm going to use. I'm just waiting for them to get back to me with a repair estimate.

I agree with Drew: many of parts aren't that rare. Hit the boneyards, which is where I picked up many of the parts listed in my sig. As an example, 1LE drive shafts are listed above. From all that I read on this site and elsewhere, I was led to believe these were indeed rare. Having nothing better to do one day, I started searching the net. I purchased one within 20 minutes for $80. The lightbulb in my noggin flashed on, and long story short, within a matter of months, I'd sold 70 of them on this site--yes, I said 70, all purchased over the net (shoot, I had one SHIPPED to me to $30). I picked up my L69 dual snorkel for $30. Hollow 36/solid 24 sways for $50, Conteur seat for $80, overhead console with flashlight for $50. More recently I did a PBR brake upgrade. I found a 9-bolt with a bent axel tube and bought everything from the flanges out for $100. I sold the backing plates and lines for $65. Darn cheap brakes. Again, hit the boneyards. There are thousands of them and in them thousands of thirdgen cars. Try the following links (these are only a few of the ones I used and there are many, many more):

I'm going to hit some of the boneyard links JamesC posted and see what I can come up with for actual 92 Decks.
If I can't find anything I'll grab a 93 BOSE one and see what the local stereo shop suggests.

I'll add one to this list:
A complete Hatch Pull Down Assembly for any '92 built late in the model year (the one with the fiberglass mount).
On the PITA scale to find - 10. I wish I knew why the GM wizards decided to change this thing right at the end. (maybe it's a 4th Gen part also ??)
Took me almost 4 months to find one. (Thanks IROCZ Dave)

I have a running Cross Fire Injection '82 Z-28. 80 some thousand original miles, garaged every day of it's life, so clean you could eat off it. Comp cam and hypertech chip added at 60,000. Had to share since you think it is so rare.
