Where all B4Cs originally purchased by municipalities? I did a carfax on this prior to purchase and that didn't seem to come up.
My local dealer , Gates Chevyworld at one time towards the end of the 92 model year had 10-15 ( dont remember the exact amount ) B4C's in a variety if colors and options that were all sold to the public . all I really remember was 1 going to look almost everyday and drool on a 92 Black/black custom cloth 350 car , and 2 )the sales manager saying how he knew the chief of Police and " he owed me a favor" . Apparanty the South Bend Police put a order in for the cars and the order was cancelled after the cars were in route . Thats how I learned what a B4C even was , I didnt get at first why all these RS's had TPI engines and 1LE front brakes . Definately cool , to bad I was only 17 ....I woulda gave anything to have been able to buy a new one . There still is one of them that I know of in the area . I see the guy around from time to time . If I get a chance again I try to nab the vin# Its a 92 Polo green /black base seats , no options at all , 350 auto . The car last I saw only had 30,xxx miles .

Do we have to post the VIN? I picked up this 92 RS w/ B4C package at the local police auction a few months ago. It was the Honolulu Police Dept High Speed Pursuit Camaro #251. I'm gonna be sending it to a bodyshop to be repainted. They managed to mess up at least 1 small part of every panel on the car either in service, or removing the police decals and lights. It was pretty dirty on the inside, those dirty pigs!! hehe. Its a L98/Auto with 104K Miles.

I have the VIN, just dont feel too good about posting it publicly. Would it help your guys cause if I PM'd it to one of you? On another note, I used to own a different B4C about a year ago. It was also a 92 RS with the B4C package, black hardtop with L98/Auto and 92K miles when I had it. I bought it from a police officer, I think it was his personal car. I sold it to the user 'Benny' on these forums. I heard he sold it to someone else after he bought it from me. I saw it about 6 months later with mismatched wheels and a huge smash in the drivers side door (but I knew it was the same car because of the custom '92 B4C' plates). What a shame ...

Because this is the Internet and you never know what can happen. To me the VIN of the car is like your personal SSN. Would you post your SSN on the Internet? Anyone with the intention of doing something shady could do a search for 1G1* and get a list of VIN's and do who knows what with them. Sorry, but I'd prefer not to post it. But like I said, no problem PM'ing it to someone. I want to help you guys track down all the B4C's but I dont want to post my VIN publicly on the Internet. Tell me who to PM it to ...

I have no fear of showing my vin because I know that no one can do anything shady with it.

I would not post my real license plate number, social security number, or any gun serial number, for the same reasons you have stated.

Just as an update to all with Texas 1992 B4C's. Texas bought 155 5spd cars in 1992. Still need to break down how many in each interior color. Keep the info coming and sorry if I seem to be distant but I'm not and I am terribly busy at work.

Crazy Hawaiian, pm me with it or email it to me at adtke1@cox.net. Trust my brother, nothing can be done with your vin. People can walk up to your car at any time and write your vin down, but what can they do with it. Nothing except maybe call GM and see what options it came with or give it to the Police to see if it is stolen.

By the way, nice buy. Do they have anymore of them with the PD in HI? Curious to how many they purchased of course. I know they had more than one. Someone else on this board had/has one but cant remember if it was a marked unit.

B4CTom, thanks for all of your help too. Much appreciated. I will still try to edit 1st post and put cars with names and locations.

Funny thing as a side note, I run almost every vin I find(except the ones you fellows post here because I know that they are currently owned) through carfax and I found 1 that was exported to Australia. So there is at least one B4C Down Under.

It was not exported new but later in life after service because of the mileage. Sorry I should have clarified.

I bought my 1991 Camaro RS -B4C in July 2000...

body is in ruff shape but it will still turn a 14.3 sec 1/4 mile.

Can you tell me if I bought a fake???

Was suppose to be 1 of 12 issued in the State of Nebraska...
Was used by Sheriffs Dept... Still has holes inside & out...
Can still see star shadow on doors & sheriff shadow on rear spoiler...

Has a 350 L98 (5.7L) TPI with auto trans...
Factory A/C
Factory oil cooler...
dual cats...
etc...

vin number : 1G1FP2380MLXXXXXX
Thanks for doing the research.

91 RS B4C Fake?, Its not a fake. You have a true 350 L98 car with RS Badge's and i doubt someone would covert a Z to an Rs. So good purchase there. Which sheriff used it?

So to say, I was wrong.

OK gang, there were NO V6 B4C's. Easiest way to tell is if you have an F or an 8 as the 8th digit with an RS body style 1991 or 1992 car.

the easiest and most reliable way to tell if you have a B4C is to get the VIN and call up the Chevy dealership and ask them to look up the options on the VIN and check to see if was optioned as a B4C, the most reliable proof is there
and while your at it check for all the other options too
thats what i did to make sure the B4C I bought was real and not just BS

Thats the whole idea of us tracking all of the vins. We will be able to know things like that. But as of right now, I know of 2 1992 B4C's that have factory leather.

I know where there are 3 B4Cs all owned by the same person. One was used as a patrol car the other two were civilian. Ill try to get you all 3 VINs as soon as I can. On a sad note one of them was destroyed in a 100+mph accident and is FAR beyond repair. Ill try to get pics of all 3 of them also. Im pretty sure they are all 92s but Im not positive. One is purple(it runs 14.3@96mph), one is red(it runs 14.1@97mph) and the other totaled one is burgandy. All of them are 350/auto cars and the red one actually came with a factory CD player and the higher end seats (not leather though). Ill get you info as soon as possible. They are all indiana cars as far as I know.

Jeremy

P.S. There is also a civilian 92 B4C heritage edition car running around indianpolis. It is teal/green with silver stripes and is a 305/5 speed car. Ill probibly never see it again though unfortunitly.

Well P.haze92,I am currentley checking with some of my cop pals to see who else might have more b4c.Interesting thing is I help one of the local dealerships pick up and deliver used vehicles to them and the other day saw an ex caprice 91 or 92 sitting on the dead lot with a busted trans. He told me 100 bucks takes it,but before I do,I got to find out how I can tell if it is a real Police issue or not.I will keepyou posted on the camaros!By the way,I scored on the camaro,I think,500 with bad trans and fuel pump and sending unit dead.Car sat in his garage for 6 years. At least I found the sending unit at rockauto.com.Aloha Thomas

If is definately worth buying. I have 2 of them and one is framed. It makes a nice picture of a B4C doing a burnout when opened up. I wouldnt hesitate to go about 20 bucks but that is entirely up to you. Awhile back I scoped up a bunch of 1992's for about $7 a piece if I remeber correctly. Cant find them anymore and that is the only year that has a nice color photo on the cover.

it all comes down to how much you are willing to spend. this one I have shown you and my 1992 one I own are the only two for thirdgens I have ever even seen. I have seen tons of the 4th gen ones, but that auction and the unit I have are the only two 3rd gen ones I have seen.

just on the 1992's only, I was wondering if you could show me where you saw them, or did you buy them?

if you bought them, can I get a picture of the group of them together to show others they exist? I had someone actually accuse me of creating the one I have shown pics of:
