Hello Kurt,
Looking at the post on how you modified the air cleaner assembly to accept air from the now functional air doors. That turned out great.Maybe you could fabricate a small air box/seal assembly to mate to the air cleaner lid.I'm looking at fabricating a snorkel assembly for my CFI air cleaner. The LU5's never came from the factory with that oddly enough.Bumpa is so right,it does look so cool when the doors snap open under throttle.

Kurt, sorry! I was in a hurry. I was referring to the vinyl stickers ON my GFX, should have specified that. I do agree that the GFX themselves were only painted one of two possible colors in 82-84, either silver or bronze. I was wondering about the stickers. Is it safe to assume, that with my blue OEM interior, I should have originally had blue-tone stickers on my silver GFX? Or was it possible I would have had gray/argent/silver stickers, like I have now? They are definitely new stickers... not even one tiny rock chip anywhere on the stickers, on a 40k+ mile car...
Never mind, about my question folks. Did a search like I should have and found this:

http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/hi...8+stripe+color (Correct striping on 85 IROC?)

Quote:
What you will NEVER see from the factory was a tan interior car with silver exterior striping / graphics or a gray interior car with gold striping....
Sorry for the off-topic

I still chuckle when I think of this quote:

Quote:
Obviously, we got the T-Top $eal$ in$talled today. What an incredible appearance improvement all the new $eal$ make to the car (Door $weep$, Wind$hield $eal, Door $eal$, T-Top $eal$). IT really gives the car a NEW look. In addition, that "TIN" sound we use to hear when the doors were closed is long gone. Now it's more like a "THUD".

Is there any wonder why, with all these new $eal$, we're looking for cheap tread$?
I can relate since I converted my hardtop 95 Formula to a t-top car and the co$t$ ju$t kept adding up

I hope Kurt/Derek check in again soon... wonder how things are going...

I just saw these treads (including the one on the engine swap), and i am very impressed with the results. The car looks very very good. I wish my dad would help me with my car like that.

BT283,
Thanks for the compliment. We had a great time, and it's still ongoing although Derek's ride is about as complete as she can get at this point. She gets driven EVERY day as Derek works at Huddle House (washing dishes). Hopefully, next summer we can get a better finish coat on her.

It was fortunate that I was able to manufacture the time to work with him. NOW... We're working on MY car.... a Second Gen (oops bad words!) TransAm. Unfortunately, there is no place for Second Gens that compares to what we have here for the ThirdGens.

Sincerely,
Kurt

Derek's Z-28 - Featured in a Small Magazine....

Red90Iroc & TGO Friends,

Derek's car was a 4-page article featured in the September '06 issue of a Relatively Small Magazine. Derek is extremely excited about that and his friends (and mine) are rather impressed. The magazine is a product of a large Camaro Parts Company that is not a sponsor here so it would not be appropriate to mention the name.

Derek drives his Z-28 to school (with his little sister) every day. Nancy and I steal it every once in a while and take it for a Sunday Afternoon drive. Although the Z-28 is no where near perfect, we get endless compliments and turn heads with it everywhere it goes (That's mostly why I steal her....I like the attention too. LOL)

What may be the most valuable part of this car is DEREK STUDYING! To retain possession of this vehicle, Derek must maintain GREAT GRADES... He's become an EXCEPTIONAL student as a result, and that's the best part of all.

Derek and I keep watching all the TGO boards and throw our in whenever we think we can be helpful. Hopefully we can REPAY all the help folks around here provided us with his Z-28.

Sincerely,
Kurt

P.S. OFF-TOPIC My second gen is a great big challenge. Thirdgens are EASY to find parts for.....just try finding parts for a second gen... IT'S REALLY TOUGH!

Primarily Off-Topic UPDATE.

Thanks for those last couple responses guys.

Derek and I are very involved with our F-Bodie"s", Car Clubs, Etc.
Last weekend our car club held it's annual car show. Derek and I were there to assist. Derek took some of the entry photos and I ended up being a judge/car inspector. There were only two(2) ThirdGen's at the event~!
Unfortunately, as "Club Members" we were not permitted to enter his car in the event. After judging nearly 50 cars it was quite clear Derek would have done well. Also unfortunately, it was also a non-category event with all cars being held to a single standard. It's more than a bit of a stretch to compare Derek's "Antique '82" to a '06 Mustang, '06 Vette, or other similarly new vehicle. We were more than a little disgusted with the "Check-Book" Hot Rodders.......Guys that could not answer even a simple question about their car as "Someone Else" did all the work for them! UGH!

In response to the previous posting. The thing that makes this site so truly great (IMPO) is that we are all trying to do our OWN work....That's our kind of car guy!!

Derek and I "Poke around" TGO on a regular basis and try to lend a bit of info. whenever we can help.

Have a great day guys!
Sincerely,
Kurt & Derek
