You can also contact GM of Canada Historical Services to find out how many were imported into Canada. Any GM dealer should be able to give you the 1-800 number. It costs around $50.00 + GST.

The actual number imported is quite small and may include those used for the Player's Challenge (confirm that with them).

Karl Hunter (Hunter Motorsports) in Vancouver has one. It was from the Player's Challenge. Given you have power windows would suggest that it was a street model and not an ex-race car. Any 1LE is hard to find in Canada.

Why the hell can't Chevy have that sort of information available in the states? I'd love to get the original history on my car.

Yeah, it is too bad. They can give you all the RPO codes (with descriptions) on any Canadian GM car back to 1946. They can do US cars since around 1992 now.

The reason this information is available has a lot to do that the majority of GM cars have always been imported from the US. GM had to retain those records for the Canadian Federal Government shoult they want to do an audit for duties and then the Autopac deal from the 1960s. Somewhere along the line, when the records became old, someone had the foresight to preserve the records instead of tossing them.

I was quite impressed when I got my car's "package" with RPOs and production/import volumes based on my GTA option and L98 option. (No, not how many GTAs had the L98 though). Also, I have called them and have asked certain production/import numbers on other options and they have happily provided those numbers for free.

I called Gm Vinatage A while after discovering this website in order to get a number for Americans to call in order to get the same package as I gottoperator told me that a fire destroyed most of the records that chevrolet kept.Apparently there is a website that Pontiac owners can go to in order to get this info for their cars.
