I was wondering, because when you look for a Camaro there all red, black, blue, or some other colors. If you look at alot of Camaro ads the IROC's are yellow. What years did they have yellow as a production color?

Yes they did. Found a fully loaded 87 IROC. It was yellow with the deluxe tan leather. It had all the good stuff on it except it had the lg4 motor and a open end rear. I snaged the power seat track out of it to replace the one in my black 87 IROC. I don't really see yellow ones to much. And I think that was my first yellow IROC I saw to think of it. Acording to the white book there were 3,052 combined yellow camaros in 87. I don't know how many are just IROC's tough. Iv'e always liked the yellow and blues too. Adam :-)
yeah I responded to your other thread but it was never posted the last year for the yellow camaros should be 1987.. hence why advertisements went to red.
Ya, the white book says 85,86 and 87 got yellow for the Z. 88 had yellow, but only for the sport coupe. Yellow was gone after 88. Plus yellow were low production for those 3 years. Then you figure how many are still on the road. So now you can see why there are not that many one the road anymore. Adam :-)
I almost bought a yellow Iroc when I was out looking for an f-body. It was in Iron Mountain, Michigan. It was pretty nice except the door was screwed up. Then I found my RS nearby and it was nicer with alot less miles! This was before I knew much about Camaros though, so if I had had the background info I do now, I might have got that yellow one instead...
Well this is mine. Its only been repainted once. But it kinda needs to get repainted again. Hood is been changed (obviously) and the iroc stickers have been removed. Im going to be putting in my 383 this weekend, but after painting the engine bay black!
I'm dating myself, but here goes...>> I saw TWO new identical yellow 1985 IROC-Zs parked side-by-side at a Chevy dealer. Both had the 305 H.O. with 5-speeds and black interiors. I'll always remember this because of their color.
I know this is a Camaro conversation but back in 1986 Pontiac dealers catolog had a Gold Trans Am advertised, has any seen one or did the color never made it too production??

Dangit. I want to paint mine yellow. lol. I like bright colors. The only reson I got this black one is because I can change the color without having to do the engine bay. Plus it was cheap with a L98 and 3:27 posi disc rear. Oh and t-tops. lol. Adam :-)
There is another yellow IROC to add to the post. One of the 3,052 yellow camaros built in 87. Mine is an L98 car with 3.27s and grey interior. They made yellow irocs 85-88. Just my 2 cents.
They also made a pale yellow which didn't make it to the IROC thankfully. It was on Z28's though.
I had a 85 berlineta that was the pale yellow color. Everyone said it was yellow but I kept calling it tan. This is how I got it. The guy atleast put a 350 in it. I eventualy primered the whole thig. But it met it's end with a jimmy. Adam :-)
Ive only seen one other original (looking) yellow IROC around here in central indiana. I was going down the interstate and I seen it coming down the other side. He seen me too. We were both breaking out necks looking across the highway at each others cars. It was like looking into the mirror :P I thought it was pretty cool. Id like to see more originals. Ive seen a few repaints, but they didnt look quite as good as the originals because they used a brighter or more orange yellow on them.
my favorite iroc pic's is a yellow one:
What's rarer than a 1985-87 yellow IROC-Z? A 1985-87 Z28. This one is an '85 with tan LS conteur seats which brings up another rare point. GM never allowed a tan interior with silver ground effects. Typically, the interior color was the same as either the ground effects or striping color.... EXCEPT on yellow Camaros.

That's the same car that's on my 87 camaro brocher. lol. A 87 yellow z28 with the silver wheels and ground effects. Adam :-)
It could be the exact same car. GM used it originally on the 1986 Camaro brochure. With a little photoshop work, it was used again in 1987 but with the year specific striping change.
Another interesting note about the 1985-87 yellow Z28. The factory striping is not silver as was used on all other Z28s with silver rockers. Yellow was the only color that used gray striping.
In a nutshell, yellow posed many "color-coordination" problems....
Funny reading this tonight and seeing a yellow one earlier today. Was in real nice stock condition. I like how all the other colors on the car stand out, like the decals and the grill and hoodvents. Have seen this one before all over Springfield, MA for like the last 18 years so i never thought as a yellow one would be unusual.
I own a 1986 yellow iroc-z 305 TPI, all original 87,000 miles
the paint is oxadized, the interior is nice though, motor is clean, I am saving up right now to restore it. I bought it off my cousin for $1800.....
Everyone just stares at me lol, kinda nice, man i love that car. If i sold it, where talking some loot here, but I don't I think I would. I have someone to paint it for 1,200. That cheap because he like sit so much, I actually was going to change the color, but he talked to me for an hour about keeping it yellow, Itihnk he wants it
edit- Oh yeah, the rear view mirror has an auto adjust feature on it for night? and above that is a planner and some leather pouches, think that would make it worth anymore? I actually hate the rear view mirror, it makes a huge blind spot, but it is just cool. It has the smaller cam and stuff in it though. I am gonna go to a gm dealer and get list of updates to make a true iroc-z in my eyes.
My 88 red iroc-z would smoke it bad, though the 305 in my red one was about done up as it could get without getting a super charger
BTW - anyone looking for a genuine yellow-gold IROC, PM me since I have some pix and an email from a seller in NC....
Just curious, is this "YELLOW IROC" located near Boone In NC? I seen one for sale on a website, http://www.cars-on-line... and it was an 85 with a 305 TPI all original with 20,000 miles, and he wanted $14,000 for it. (I just thought it was a little too pricy....passed it up! Looked to be in great shape).
BTW I don't know the seller... I'm just posting here to help him out a little since I did talk with him on the phone when I was looking for one and he seemed like a good chap.

since this thread has come up, i think i've seen 3 different yellow IROCs in my area, it may have been the same one twice, but i know at least 2 different ones.
i'd love to have a yellow IROC, but i do not want the gold trim they generally put with them.

"The real deal" I can post the pic of mine again with its old faded paint and all. Hell Ill even post a pic of the original console lid with RPO sticker with the paint code and all. Its in bad shape because it got lost for over 3 years and then resurfaced once again right after I bought the car back. Mine is the real deal, its just going to take some time to get back into nice shape again
I HAVE ONE!!!!!!!!!!1 It's ben sitting since 2003 (started evry week), I just got it up and smogged, the paint is so so (starting to fade) but not much to totally restore it (upholstory, radio>origianl but won't stay on> electric antennae, . When I got it I was going to sell it (took it as payment on money due). ASked $2800 then found out the whole story. Only 3052 were made, only about 1500 left that are registered. A true collector will pay between $10K and 20K depending on condition. I am in California.

Reason: Advertising to sell car
It's like someone opened the floodgate and let all the newbs in to resurrect threads from hibernation.
The stripes are definitely not Iroc stripes, and the wheels have been polished. If it's really an Iroc and the color is correct, I'd expect to see the gold Iroc wheels.
Even if it was originally an Iroc, and was originally yellow, and it was in mint condition, hope of finding someone collector or not, that would pay $20,000, is a complete pipe dream. $3,000 for a quick sale, $5,500 maximum if you don't mind waiting awhile for a buyer.
Im not sure if this counts.... My '86 IROC was silver but when i got it, the color was like school bus yellow.... but its a project car but here ya go for a pic.
I own an original 1985 Yellow Iroc-Z. My car is very well optioned. T-Tops, 5-Speed, Tan int. 373 4-wheel disk. This car is an L69 car or a 5.0 LITER H.O. gold wheels.
I have seen a Yellow Iroc just like that 305HO TPI its an 87 according to the guy who owns it it is just rotting away... Rusted and he wont sell it or anything just letting it rot... Been watching it rot for the last 2 years... Makes me sad...-Rev
probably my favourite color in an IROC, I have had 6 or 7 of them, I have an '86 right now - with the gold trim and wheels.
