Is this emblem for real? I've never actually seen it on a car before - not that I've seen every 1992 out there - but I just never saw it. Curious - let me know if it's actually original.

"All 1992 Camaros received the 25th Anniversary designation and is shown on the interior dash badge.
The rear exterior emblem is part of the Heritage Appearance Package, RPO Z03. This is true for all RS's and Z28's. The part number of the RS and Z28 badges are different, due to the difference in curvature of the mounting surface. RS emblems were affixed to the rear spoiler and Z28's were placed on the trunk lid under the high-rise spoiler."

I have one but want another as a back up. Makes me scared to put one on my car unless I can REALLY put it on where it won't come off.

Is this true? After i got into my accident with my Heritage RS i pulled the emblem off the decklid...
So if someone were to steal the emblem off my Heritage Z28, the emblem from my RS wouldn't work on the Z28's decklid??
Well as i will show you guys right now i have 4 25th emblems, 1 from my car (Z28), 3 from others (all RSs i believe)
Only difference i see from my Z28 one and the RS ones is that the RS ones have an extra plate taped/glued whatever on the back so they are thicker or stick out more. I am not sure if i Z28 would have had this plate because whoever repainted my car took off the emblem then glued it back on, so maybe they removed the extra plate. Here are some pictures of what im talking about:
GM for awhile had NOS emblems, but have gone out of stock to find an all new repro is pretty rare, used old ones show up on ebay from time to time.
no, they arent rare. I guess someone could figure that because they only appeared on the 1992 model year, and you had to have a Z03 optioned car ("Heritage"). And if you take into consideration that they arent produced or reproduced by anybody, then i guess you could call it a rarity. I enjoy that they arent floating around everywhere cuz then youd have another SS situation. You would have heritage clones rolling around and poisoning the third-gen market and name.
Obviously they had different backing because of their locations on a RS and Z28. You can make one work on any location, it really wouldnt matter. All of them went on the drivers side.

Does anyone know what the part numbers were for both Z28 and RS badges?

Hey Adam, wanna confirm what i was saying about the differences?
Can you take a look at the RS 25th emblem you pulled off your old car and compare it to your Z28 25th on the car now? Does the RS have the extra plate on the bottom and is the Z28 badge only flat with no extra plate?
Im thinking the only difference is the plate on the rear.
Let me know what you find

Steve,
Wish i could man...but im already back at school (Pitt's winter breaks are wayyy to short) so i have no way to compare. I never really looked closely at the Z28 so i couldnt say for sure...Next time i talk to my dad i'll ask him to look.
Hey All,
I need a 25th anniversary trunk emblem!!! I am willing to pay good money for it. I would prefer a brand spanking new one, but a used one in great condition will suffice. Let me know something and I will respond quickly and we can work out a deal. I will be posting this thread on different topics to get the most hits.
I'm also interested in either the used or the new one, and to anyone else that may have one out there, I'm looking for two. So anyone with the emblems, let me know, I'll pay good money.
I also am looking for a nice used one for my car. Mine was stolen in a parking lot last summer and haven't been able to find another. I would also be interested in a reproduction If there's anyone with any information that would be great. Thanks
Geez! Rare? There's tons of 'em out there, unless you mean that it's rare now ?
I have still yet to find one, as well as these other people 3 years later

As John said, according to Frankie's website there were 372 of them made in 1987. That was the only year the GTA was available in that color, technically called Russet Metallic.
Not long ago there was a 1987 GTA Russet Metallic on eBay with only 6K original miles. I think it was listed 3 different times and it didn't sell:
Um!! you would think with only 372 and only 1 year of production. It would be worth something..The one I have is not that nice. But it is a 350 car and a hardtop...And with such a small number of them being made. I guess finding a front emblem and a side bird will be next to immpossable to find..

A NOS one might be hard to find as they've all been discontinued for a long time now, though I think I've seen one on eBay a long time ago. However, the GTA badges are reproduced and GM licensed. You can still get the Russet Brown emblems (reproductions) from those sources.
