The '82 style door panels with the emblems to cover the window crank holes are somewhat uncommon. It doesn't look like the interior has been modified and just the nose on the exterior.Wouldn't take much to put her back if they are selling the whole car.Would be a shame if she is a '82 to part her out.One thing for certain someone has a lot of black F-Bodies
Edit:Is that really the asking price? She would have to be a documented vehicle from the show to even be close to that price IMHO.

i cant say anything nice so im not going to say anything at all.... other than it makes me sick to see this,
i wish my 82 was even 10 percent as nice as this one is, just another of a million other things that make me wanna just give up on mine and stop and ask why i am spending so much time and resources on it, when so many just get wasted/ruined/shredded, etc
-as if these cars and their parts were hard enough to find...
yards dont care at all about vehicles, its about the $ and nothing else
but we all know that
hopefully someone finds a way to save this one but its probably not possible
looks like 82t/a and my cars are one more rarer, yet again
hum

That is the asking price. I'm not joking! I've emailed them in the past looking for parts for my '82 TA. Specifically the 15" Turbocast rims and caps, as well as a '82 shift knob. Basically the owners are taking advantage of people who need these parts for legitimate restorations, and hiking up the prices to the Knight Rider crowd. I was told about this junkyard in a Knight Rider forum and was told by the poster NOT to tell him I was making a KITT converion or else he would jack the price up. Well, I told the guy at the junkyard I need the parts for a restoration and he quoted me about $900 for the wheels and about $150 for the knob. Sounds like "knight rider" prices to me. Also the junk yard is in canada, so those prices are canadian. They specialize in 2nd-4th gen birds and camaros, mostly 2nd and 3rd gen and they have over 3,000 vehicles. Alot of early '82-'84 birds also, but mostly base and S/E. I refuse to deal with them howerver after I see how they take advantage of people. They also sell cars that need work or restored. I inquired about parts from a black and gold '82 TA and was told the parts are not for sale but I could buy the whole car.
There was even an '82 TA that someone tried converting into a GTA. GTA nose, taillights, and gauges, but the rest of the interior was a tan '82 Deluxe interior with PMD seats. Go figure.
I'd like to know where the yard it to. I noticed you live in toledo 1982TA. I don't live too far from there. I'd like to take a look at this car and see how much they want for some of it. if it's still there.
EDIT: we posted at the same time. just foudn where you said it was.

I feel you, I really do. I've felt like giving up on my bird more than once, and even tried selling it recently just because I'm fed up with trying to get parts and getting ripped off constantly. Fortunately for me though, my buddy who was going to buy it couldn't get the funds so I'm keeping my bird! Don't give up on it, I think they are the most unique of the thirdgens and while parts are hard to get, you get that sense of accomplishment when you finally find what you are looking for. You will find those parts at some point...just keep looking. Now if I could only find a complete Z20 appearance package from an '87-88 Firebird I'd be set!

you actually told them you needed them for a restoration??...... bad idea, don't tell them ****, just say you need them for your car, Knight Rider had nothing to do with it.
at the junkyard i go to, there's one guy i hate dealing with 'cause he always jacks the prices on me, but if i deal with anyone else there i usually get a good deal,

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
That guy is on crack.lol....Just say, "man what do you need for them old wheels on that car, they might fit mine, but im not sure" NEVER act like you need the part bad dude...........Act like you aint even sure it will fit........Yeah, it works..Or oh well never mind........lol.......
the owner must be out of his mind! its so depressing to i just looked at all there cars so many and they are just gonna sit there b/c of being way overpriced
Hi All,
Well if they are parting it out, then I might be interisted in the Automatic shift plat. I been looking for one of these for years. Its the only piece iin the interior of my car that is not in mint condition.
If people didn't pay the prices they ask, then the prices would go down. Also, keep in mind that most people don't even care enough about these cars to keep them around for parts. When the people that like the cars won't buy them, the people who will buy them for scrap metal can get them even cheaper.
Don't everbuy anything from DavidT, he's the biggest conartist I know. I needed an axle for my 91 z and he wanted $400 dollars for one side, got new ones hardened for $220. Same thing for my weatherstripping, he wanted $200 a side, got both for $60 off of ebay new.
He's asking alot for rare parts, why is everyone complaining? Don't like the price- don't buy it. He'd go out of business if people weren't paying, and we all know something is only worth what people are willing to PAY. I didn't realize capitalism was a crime.
no locals shop at davidts he is behond reasonable i found chop shop auto wreckers through vancouverfbodys.com and they have alot of good parts at great prices
my car is an 89 and I got ot for 500.00 abandoned in a parking lot... I have spent another 1500.00 on it and it strill doesnt look as good as the one in the pic
Excellent starter car for building a KNIGHT RIDER Kitt Car. It has black exterior, tan interior w/PMD power seats, V8, Power windows, doors, tilt steering wheel, air conditioning, t tops, in very good running condition, full load, cross fire injection, and rear disc brakes. Selling Price: $11,500.00. And for those with the 82 Trans Am that want to make them into Knight Rider Kitt Cars, we have the noses for sale: $750.00.
even though i am a huge knight rider fan, and have am working on my second replica, those are outrageous prices. no one in their right mind would pay that kind of $$$ for that!
Well all I can say is get some black clothing, ski masks, flashlights, and bolt cutters. lol. This guy obiviosly is not going to lower his prices so I'd just wait until he dies and just go to the auction and pick the car up for much less.
I emailed them a while back because I've been needing a new shifter, mostly the knob, for my '82 TA. Well, they finally got back with me and they quoted me $275 for the assembly and $145 for the knob...
That price is so off base it's not even funny, $11,500.00!! it's just a dirty (and poor condition) 82 T/A with a cheapo KR nose on it, for the price he wants it for you could have a like new car with lots of custom parts, or a nice older corvette.
DavidT rips people off, pure and simple. If you tell them you are restoring a car, or want a part for a Knight Rider conversion, prices get raised HIGH over fair market value, heck even if you're just looking to fix up a old heap of a 3rd gen they charge more than anyone else. It's sad, but ebay is often cheaper....
I really doubt it was a real KR conversion, since it looks like they probably dumped the nose on at the yard so they could sell it for more.
The best thing you can do to stop price gouging is avoid guys like this, and find somewhere else to shop.
