Look under the rear plate for a grease pencil number.
Surf to turbobuick.com on the tta board for better information.
I never cared if mine was one lol

hi jeremy thanks for the info. i have looked at the tta board but could not realy find a answer . maybe i was looking in the wrong area .
can u tell me how to tell if the car is a eraly car an what # the car is out of the 1550 ?
i am thinking of buying this car its 89 tta 72553 mile could use a good detail . front seats are starting to crack but the backs are fine . the right side of the spoiler has come uncliped or is broken . an it needs tire.
the car would most likely have more miles but has been siting the last 10 years sine the mans son died in a car wreck. ( not the trans am)
hes asking 12000 for the car .
does that sound like a good deal . from what i have told u about the car ?
Does it come with any memorabilia (jacket/owners box/spack plug wires)? How many owners? Also, the spoilers crack on pretty much every TTA, and the leather was not the highest that was out there.

Oh yea, and my all-original Turbo Trans Am #437 too!

i would consider the car to be one owner since the guy that owned died an now the father has the car an is selling it . ?
what all should i ask forr when i buy the car ? jacket , box , wires what do these iteams look like ?
What's the VIN? Should be pre 235xxx for a festival car.
If the box isn't with the car, that's an instant $500. Wires have 20th Anniversary on them. Not many people bought the jackets. If it has the box, the order form was in there(at least I'm pretty sure it was in there). Leather and spoiler cracked just like any other TA. My spoiler was cracked by 17K miles and I replaced it with a fiberglass one.
I must have gotten lucky - My spoiler isn't cracked, but at 1,200 miles and no exposure to sun, that probably helped. But those lexan t-tops still make me nervous.
Good luck with the potential TTA purchase. They are awesome cars ...

Hey Mike, yeah you are lucky!
When I bought my TTA, the spoiler had a slight crack on the driver's side - the passenger side was perfect. This was at 1400 miles and museum/garage kept its entire life (so I'm told).
Now, two years later (and just 400+ miles more miles) in my possession, the passenger side has started to crack. Since I got it, it remains in the garage, under a car covered - never left outside for more than an hour at a time.

Chris, the original owner of my TTA was anal to the extreme ... Apparently he was told that these things cracked, so he never closed the lid using the spoiler. Whenever he'd want something in the back, he'd just go through the passenger compartment to put it there.
But then again, I do that too ... But not because of the spoiler, but rather the struts are weak and that lid is heavy without that little bit of help.

Both of my TTA's have the original spoiler and neither one is cracked. I make sure when I wash them I get the area around the rear spoiler base dry to avoid the rust from the bolts that hold them down to the deck lid.

I bought my 20th TTA brand new, and my rear spoiler is not cracked either.
I try to let towels soak up the water under the spoiler as much as I can.
I place the edge of the towel right up to the edge of the spoiler that meets the decklid.
I also never use the spoiler section to close the hatch.
Basically, just be careful.
