1LE or not

I bought a 91 z28 350 tpi. It has no 1le stickers but it has four wheel disc brakes, oil cooler. How do I know for sure?

Re: 1LE or not

Well, 1LEs didn't come with any special stickers or badging and rear disc brakes and oil coolers were common options on regular Z28's. More than likely your car isn't a 1LE but the only way to know for sure is check the RPO codes on the door of the driver's side rear cargo compartment. If it doesn't show the code "1LE" than it's just a regular Z28.

Re: 1LE or not

Part of having a 350 is getting the oil cooler. Do you have A/C? Do you have fog lights? Most likely it is not a 1LE.

Re: 1LE or not

Are the front discs 11.7" with dual-piston alum calipers? Or are they 10.5" with single-piston iron calipers? If the latter, the car would have a standard-type braking system.

Aluminum driveshafts weren't 1LE only, TONS of non-1LE cars had them as well.

Re: 1LE or not

Is this the Red 350 that was just on Ebay? If so it looked legit enough.

To know for sure you'll need the build sheet or the RPO tag verified against the vin. No tag or documentation and there may always be a cloud of suspect over the car?

In canada you can call GM and pay for a packet of detailed information including a list of all RPO codes for documentation. I don't think this can be done in the US.

Good luck! Have some pics of the front brakes and engine compartment?
