1982 trans am mse?

I ran across this on craigslist: http://fredericksburg.craigslist.org...311294824.html

No pics or anything, but I was wondering what a "MSE" Trans-am looked like. I know i should have searched but i figured I'd share it with anyone in VA.

Mechum Motor Sports Edition

http://www.firebirdfever.com/firebirdfever/mseta.html

What is interesting, is that the one you found is #47. The link I gave is #48 & he says 2 red ones were there & he chose #48. Maybe the other red one was #47? The one you found for sale?

i like the look of the war paint scheme the MSE trans ams used.

the rear spoiler is pretty sweet too. Mecham still sells the spoiler.

Re: 1982 trans am mse?

I'd say that's a good buy if the original MSE specific items are still on the car.
I thought I read somewhere that only 9 of them in '82 were red. Can anybody verify that?

In the link I posted, it says 10......

"According to Mecham Racing, only 500 1982 MSE Trans Am were built. Of those, less then 10 were red in color. The remaining cars were all white in color, matching the actual race car."

Re: 1982 trans am mse?

I dont have any pics, but I can put them up soon. Like you said, it is a 1982 M.S.E. These are very rare with 500 ever made for the streets. Less than 10 of them were originally red in color, as this one once was. Unfortunantly, It was repainted at some point, and repainted very poorly. But the engine does run well. It's body is in very good shape, and it has no rust, except for some surface rust underneath. There are quite a few cosmetic issues that I will need to handle, but it should turn out to be quite a good project.

Nice find. Your car is close to my 1983 MSE which only 150 of them made.

Haha, a second red 82 is spoken for. Eight more to find! Cameron H has another red 82, he's a big MSE guy. Now only seven left.
