Just tossing this out there to see if there's any interest in an Camaro (up to '87 built at Norwood) get together in Norwood OH for the 25th Anniversary of the last Camaro's built there?
I think it'd be cool to have these, the last Camaro's built in Norwood to return to their birth place 25+ years later.
Anybody know if there's anything left of GM in Norwood or anyone at GM we could contact to see if they'd be interested in participating?
It'd be a 1500 mile pilgrimage for us but it's something I think would be ultra cool. I'd volunteer to take the reigns to get this thing rolling but would definitely need help to deal with the logistics.
The reason I'm mentioning this now is things like this always take plenty of lead time to get done and done right.
Who's interested?

I'm in! still even with the plant being gone, its where it all went down and the birthplace of the cars we love. I also just found out that my car started in new jersey, but found its way home in 2001
Surfing Google Earth I managed to locate the old GM site in Norwood.
Got thinking about this the other night. What about a low key meet & greet & cruise. The other route would be to plan something much bigger. Are there any car clubs in Norwood or area we could contact to see if they've got anything in mind or planned?
The anniversary is the 26th of August (today) which in 2012 falls on a Sunday.
I'm not very familiar with norwood specifically and the only car clubs i know of around here are a jaguar club and a mustang club. The mustang club has meetings every 6 months at different Quaker Steak and Lubes around cincinnati. I always thought it would be kind of neat to do something like that and then go for like an hour cruise or something.

You might want to contact the Northeast Ohio Camaro Club. I will see if I can
get you an email address. I am not a member since I have an 87 TA. My car was also built in Norwood during the last weeks of production there. I would also be interested in showing up for this if you Camaro guys don't mind.
This is a great idea!!!
No, i'm not stalking you!!! ...Just so happens my 1985 camaro Z28 was manufactured in the Norwood, Ohio plant, (mine was built for the early release, hence I have the "4-barrel carburated version", instead of the fuel injected one introduced for the later models in 1985.),...+ the birth of the "1st" IROC! came that same year. When would this "pilgrimage" take place?...myself, i would need @ least 7-8 months to refurbish 24 years of wear and tear on the 'ol girl. Very good idea though.
Ahhh, so excited..I didn't read the whole thread,.. so..August of 2012,...should have her restored by then!! This is a mighty exciting plan!!! way to go Knottybuoy Rick!
Hey, I'm with the NKYFBA and we are the only "full" f-body club in the area. There's also the Cincinnati Trans Am Club. Most of the NKYFBA members are from this area and know Norwood fairly well.
You are right that the majority of the facility is gone and just a few small buildings are left. I remember the last day there. All the employees lined the streets and people drove by and hanked their horns in recognition of all the work that had once been done there. Two of my older cars that I no longer owned were built at Norwood. I can get any info you need. Plus there's a nice amusement park, Kings Island, and water park, The Beach, just 25 minutes away to the north and about 15 minutes to the south in Ky. is a nice aquarium in Newprot with a nice gathering place, Newport on the Levy.
Check out www.nkyfba.com, the place to be in the Tri-State area

Thnx for the info fella's. I'll get working on it this winter while we're cooling our heels under 10' of white fluffy stuff. The cruising & boating season has ended for us so I've got some time to concentrate on it now.
This was our last cruise on Sunday to Calabogie Motorsports Park. I couldn't do the parade laps 'cause the ole' box started leaking antifreeze! Grrrrr!
I really doubt that people would have a problem if an F-body was from Lordstown, Norwood or Van Nuys. Granted 3rd genners do not need to worry about Lordstown, but an all F-body show at the location of one of the plants would be really awesome. If the Westerners have some sort of beef with a show being "too far away" then let them have their own show
