I'm guessing that if you have the W62 aero package, that they should have been triggered for installation (even my 1984 T/A has them) as part of that rpo. They do screw on separately from the GFX moldings and on some cars may have been missed at the factory (as we have heard of happening on occasion) or been removed by previous owners at some point.
For my part - even at the wreckers, all of the cars I have seen with GFX have had the air dams.

Just an FYI, I myself posted a thread on these a few years back, I called them rocker deflectors, it was on this board. If I get bored I'll look it up and post the thread, but the fact of the matter is that these have been coming on cars for years, and just because there has been little mention of them in the past does not make them "rare" or "non existant" I agree with Denny on wanting to provide CORRECT information for the users, and these are not "RARE"
Plus, does anyone know how many ThirdGens Denny has processed through his shop over the years? He kinda knows from pure experience what he's talking about.
Just my .002
BTW lets get back to the topic or just leave it alone please, this is not the "my knowledge is bigger than your knowledge" thread.
Cheers!

Whatever. 1 single thread out of MILLIONS doesn't make something common. You won't listen to truth, so I'm done. Believe what you wanna believe. I don't care. Just stop telling everyone else false information.
I can't believe ya'll have gotten so worked up over my measly little post!
Jeez, why the heck does it matter how many threads there are about them?
Nobody hardly ever talks about diagnostic port covers, does that mean they are rare? No, it means nobody really cares much about them and don't feel the need to talk about them. I'm not taking sides and I don't know the correct answer for myself, but your logic for determining that these skirts are rare is absolutely absurd.
Oh I forgot. I shouldn't have posted because I've only been a member here since '07 and my opinion doesn't matter to you.
I've been into f-bodies since 1984 when I had my 72 RS. I've had owned a 3rd gen since 2000 and all the T/A's I've seen around here (F-body cuontry, Norwood) has had the deflectors or they have had them taken off.
I removed the one off my 86 T/A because they were in the way of me getting the car up on jack stands. I guess since they wern't important enough for me to post about them that they are RARE

Check back on page one... RPM WOT L 98 described a good way to get them straightened back out.
You are going to be hard pressed to find these NOS Ide bet. If you did find them, and the person knows they have something hard to find, you're probably going to pay a pretty penny for them.
Ide try to straighten em out first.

...Didnt say you couldnt find them...but they are all wavy Im betting. He was looking for NOS parts. NewOldStock non-wavy ones. Which Ide bet ARE hard to find If someone were to have a set of non-installed, NOS, nice and straight ones, Im betting they know that NOS is hard to find, and would charge a pretty penny. You can find used ones all day long, and I bet a junk yard wouldnt charge much more than $5 for them since they look like insignificant pieces of wavy plastic.

I got tired of reading the arguement in the middle, so i didn't read the rest of the posts, but to my knowledge, they are supposed to be on every car at least starting in 85+ with the ground effects package. They were a firebird/trans am item only, and while yes, they were supposed to be there, you can not rule out a lazy person working on the line in the factory not putting them on, or people in the 20 years of existance never removing them.
I do agree that many people may have removed them due to wavyness and how they do get dirty and dingy looking really quickly. Although, i have found a fix to the wavyness. While it does not stay perfectly straight, 80% of it does on my car. I found mine on a 91 firebird with appearance package, and it had an accident involving the rear of the front passenger fender. This piece was crushed up into the body of the car while the driver side was left perfect. I took a heat gun for about five minutes in the one spot, and once limber and plyable, set a few heavy books on it up against a wall edge that was long enough for the piece. I then proceeded down the entire piece and what i came out with are two nearly perfectly straight air dams.
And i know this has been brought up in at least the last year, because i've read a few threads about it, and thats the only reason i knew they were supposed to be there, and knew to go to the junk yard to find some. Although i do have to agree that they probably are pretty useless, they do hide the exhaust nicely on the passenger side along with the subframe connectors as one person mentioned above.
Who knew that something so "insignificant" and "rare" would draw soooo much attentiont.
As far as getting these, NOS, one side was still available a few years back, the other is long gone. I have searched all the channels Alex, and had 0 success.
The one NOS one that I have is wavier than the ones I restored for my Red car. So I suggest just restoing yours, well worth it.

I'm surprised no one and has made repros yet like the weather stripping and such? Seems like it would be a similar process...

This thread is ridiculous. Sometimes you guys argue about the most retarded nonsense.
Who cares?
Lol, people who want their cars to be correct.
I agree that there is no point in making an argument out of it like some but I also think it's an important topic non the less. As these cars get older and disappear even more it's going to difficult to keep track of stuff like this.
