The beautiful lady in yellow

every week or so i drive down this street by my house and on that street there is a commercial kitchen store and behind its gated parking lot there sits a firebird in yellow with black gta style rims " i thinkn they are aftermarket" and the non wrap around stlye wing " the flat one " , i am intersted in this car and whenever i try to find the owner , no one is around , it makes me sad to just see that beauty age away like that . anyways my point is , anyone know what year this car might be , can you tell by the paint color, " it looks like original paint" its a light yellow , and if that yellow color was exclusive for a certain model "i.e. flame red or burgundy what ever you want to call it , that was found on most gta's" any help would be appreciated.

Re: The beautiful lady in yellow

If it is a 91-92 style Firebird, it would be called Jamaica Yellow, and is a rare color, depending on exact model. Worth looking into, grab some pictures.

Re: The beautiful lady in yellow

I think $1200 even if you use it for parts. If it is in good condition, no rust, then definately especially if your willing to rebuild an engin if necessary.

Re: The beautiful lady in yellow

well, here's what the wner said , he got it for 1200 from a guy that lost his house . The guy that lost his house ripped out the ac and rear seats , the fronts seats have usual wear and tear , the gta style rims are bent " my guess is from when they have it sitting " he also removed all the emissions components threw on a edelbrock carm+manifold combo and headers , he also mentioned that he honed the engine , and then the owner know put new batterie cables a rad. and an alt. he has it under non op . and he says it runns real rich and the usual overheating problems , he says that on the freeway it will go up to 230* but then in stop n' go traffic it wil go down to 220* , i have 2 pictures and they are from a camera phone i could only take two because some old lady was getting mad at me for taking pictures lol anyways , how do i post pictures on here ?

Re: The beautiful lady in yellow

From the pix it looks reasonably good. Any mechanical problems could be fixed. It really depends on what you are willing to put into it nad how much you like it. The wheels are not orginal. and as for them being bent, I do not know how they would bend by sitting there... its possible if the tires went flat...

I would consider it for $1200 if it had TPI, the body looks good at least...

Re: The beautiful lady in yellow

I read it up above now, the owner said "HO" Be weary of "HO" Claims. The only way to really tell would be to look at a few things.

1) The VIN: The 8th digit WILL BE
"H" for LG4 (Base V8)
"G" for L69 "H.O."
"F" for LB9 "TPI"

It should have the dual snorkel Intake.

If it is an HO then I would say yes, definitely, they are not as fast as the TPI, but they are quick. The 5 Speed makes it sound feasible that it is an HO tho, as the HO in 1985 was only available with the 5 Speed...

Re: The beautiful lady in yellow

IIRC Differences between HO and LG4 Beyond the VIN.

The HO has a hotter cam
IIRC The HO has different exhaust manifolds (have to check this)
different exhaust components.
The HO in 1985 and 1986 used a dual snorkel air cleaner, the LG4 only used a single.
I want to think that the HO would have on the fender below the vent 5.0 Liter H.O.

Some years the HO had a dual fuel pump, a pusher fuel pump in the tank & engine pump, where the LG4 only had the Engine fuel pump. In 1987 my LG4 had the Pusher pump.

There was presumably some vapor lock issues with the HO... I do not believe that was the whole case I highly suspect that the HO in 1986 did not meet emissions requirements that were new for 1986, thus it was dropped after only 26 were made, actually 22 or so of those 26 were raced in Canada for the Players series.

Anyone chime in if I missed anything.
