Well im helping a buddy who has an 86 camaro vin F that hasnt ran in 17 years. Has only 64k miles on it. It was his grandmothers car. Only thing that we know about the car is that there was coolent leaking into the interior of the car (heator core) and that it was parked outside for 3 days and someone stole the passenger door and that the keys are no where to be found. So since then it has sat in their warhouse for 17 years.
So my game plan was to picked up new spark plugs, plug wires, oil &filter. Just to see if we can get it to start. Today i changed out the plugs and the wires pretty much were dryroted into sand. LOL And got the oil changed... which looked suprisingly good. Anyways i have no clue how the wires are routed im assuming similar to a SBC. If so then piece of cake. With the plugs out and the new battery in i put some oil into the cylinders via the plug holes and turned it over. Cranked fine. I also replaced the ignition lock/switch. Tomorrow i plan on getting the new plug wires routed and hopefully get it started.
On with some of the pictures.
Enjoy the nasty dirty pics lol.
Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated.

nice find! having sat unused for that time it is possible
some of the injectors might be stuck, also the fuel pump
might have been ruined if the gas was foul.
with luck it might start right up
i know its a lot of work but you might want to think about new rod and main bearings before you let it run. Did heads and cam install on customers car that had sit for 3 years and it only lasted a week and spun the bearings on the bottom-end.

Excelent that didnt even cross my mind. Ill check the fuel pressure tomorrow with the key on to see what it is, and possibly take the injectors out and clean em
Appreciate the comments so far!!! ill update tomorrow.
I'd also drain the gas, fill it up with the highest octane you can get, put in some injector cleaner and put in a new fuel filter.
Actually theres probably a bit of rust/rusty water in the tank, you should probably drop the tank and inspect it really well before you even try to start it. while its out replace the pump.

>>>> That old fuel filter must be all goobered up and if u do get it running u don't want all that crap going down the pike....... As stated before drop that tank and clean it and add some 93octane. Easy for me to say sitting here in my cummfy chair.... >>>> at the very least change the fillter and cram as much 93 you can get in her and say a prayer! >>>> fuel pump relay should be on the fire wall >> Drivers side

We got the new filter Put it in Time to do the pain in the *** job of dropping the tank, and changing the pump Pretty sure the relay is working because as soon as the key is turned to the on position it clicks. But ill test it tomorrow Ill keep you guys updated
