I have a 89 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans AM. Just over 2,600 original miles. all options, t-tops and cloth interior. Car has a previous salvage back in 89 with around 200 miles on it. Been repaired with NOS parts and repainted. Have all nos emblems and stickers new in packaging, as I never installed them. Interior is almost like new, one rear seat needs a small repair, but rest is showroom condition. original steering wheel, floor mats and radio gone. Engine is all stock and looks like it did new, transmission rebuilt, broke torque converter 1000 miles after i got it back on the road. OEM wheels were stolen out of my garage but have a nice set of gold honey combs for it. Body wise is all stock, but original spoiler is gone, never got a stock replacement and put a taller aftermarket one on it. And last thing, original exhaust is gone, has a standard TA exhaust on it now.
It runs and drives really nice, looks like new. The only mods I have done are bigger fuel pump and boost controller.

Seriously though, it's a little hard to say because of the salvage title, and mismatched spoiler/wheels. Still, with such low mileage, I'd guess at least 15K. With average mileage (100K plus) I see them go for around 10k. Here's one on ebay with similar mileage, bid up to 22K:

That salvage title is going to kill the resale value of it. Honestly it's worth whatever you can get for it.
I'll give you $1,000 for it! In all honesty, it's very hard to say a price.
Collectors won't pay a premium for a salvage title, even thought it has low mileage.
For a value base I say it's worth the sum of the parts, esp since they will bring a premium being low mileage. In fact, you would probably get more parting it out?
Ebay at no reserve will tell you what it's really worth.... My $0.02 worth

All this and the car only has 2.5K miles on it? This doesn't sound right.
Could you please expand on the salvage value back in 89 when the car was brand new with 200 miles? Was it totaled? Frame damage? What was repaired and replaced. And torque converter breaking, was that do to excessive 1/4 mile runs down the track? And the spoiler/original exhuast gone? Where they lost in the accident or were they taken off for racing?
The only reason I question all of this is because I also have a 1989 TTA with 50K, a nice driver, and it's still all original.
But as for value I would say anywhere between $10-12K, but I am only guessing.

The car was totaled with a bit over 200 miles, the original owner didn't even have license plates for it yet when it got wrecked. It was a total loss, and title says it. It was a roll over from what I could tell. Everything was fixed to factory original. Torque converter busted when i was on the interstate going like 55mph. Tranny started acting up and dumped all the fluid. Complete overhaul was done to it after that. Never run the 1/4 with it, just street driving. The spoiler and hatch sat outside for a couple years, when I was going to put it on the rubber wing was splitting from rusted brackets. Has a fiberglass corvette one on it now. Stock exahust was not with the car when I got it.
This car would be good for someone who wanted to drive it and mod it, not a collector.

You're right, no collector is going to want this car. There are too many nice TTAs still available, including plenty of low-mile cars.
This car's value would be best calculated by the sum of the usable drivetrain and interior parts which are still in good or excellent condition. I'm thinking that even $9-$10K would be a stretch.
The only true way to find out, as t-towner says, is a no-reserve eBay auction.

Robert, i thought you sold your GTA? I watched the u-tube video of you driving her. She seems like a sweet car and makes a nice show/driver. The leather interior looks very nice and well maintained. Hard to do with GM quality back then.
Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to tinker with it a bit this winter and get it as close to original as i can. I hope to get 15-17K for it. I am in no means going to give it away. I have owned it 10 years now, and only put a few hundred miles on it a year, otherwise it stays in a climate controlled showroom. The interior still smells factory new, and looks it. pretty much looks like the car has never left the show room.
I really like the car, but have me eyes on something else, and its sad to see it just sitting all the time. Figure its got to be worth a little more being its got the cloth option for the interior.
Well next year I will clean it up and throw it in deals on wheels or ebay and see what interest it gets. I know its fast it will spank my 02 Ram Air 6-speed TA no sweat.
While searching for parts today, I found a TTA that was traded in on the cash for clunkers program with less than 50K on it. Now thats sad. Im hoping to get my missing parts off that car.
I think you're setting your expectations for this car just a little too high. Just input a search for your car and you will find several in that price range with low miles without a salvaged titled, nor the repair work that's been done/still have to do to the car. 2,600 miles on it doesn't command a kings ransom. But hey, you may get that one dude and score. Good luck on your future sale.
A rollover total. 15 to 17K? Good luck with that one. The motor and turbo may be worth more then the car. The general rule of thumb is a salvage title is worth half of the standard value. Since you can still find plenty of original low mileage TTA cars for 15K I would put that car's worth about 7,500to 8,000.
A big part of a TTA's worth is the history and documention on the car. Your car does not have a good history or documention.
I guess i will see when I sell it. I am a ASE GM technician and a Collision Technician, couldn't decide what I wanted to do so I trained for both. I Work for a dealer full time and in my free time I buy, fix and sell salvage cars. Mainly f-bodys, corvettes, porsches, mustangs, and many other sports cars. I fix them right and with only OE parts, 99% of people cannot tell a car I did was ever fixed. I tend to sell the cars I have fixed for book price or as close to as possible. You would be amazed on what people will pay for a salvage car.
Here are some of the recent ones I have fixed and sold, all had salvage titles. I sold all of them with no troubles and colose to what I was asking.
1996 Trans AM 6-speed 152K $5,200
1995 Trand AM Auto 132K $4,800
2001 WS6 TA 6-speed 59K $13,900
2002 Trans AM Auto 46K 13,100
2000 Corvette Auto 12K 19,400
1986 Trans AM 103K $4,200
2002 Mustang GT 90K $7,400
2005 GTO Auto 23K $18,500
1988 Camaro IROC 68K $5,600
I also fix almost any other car, too, but showing more of the sports cars i have done. About 1 out of 5 people actually car about salvage.
This Trans AM, yes salvage, but who cares. It will be a nice car for the right person. Personally it doesn't matter to me, the car drives the same and is still a rare TTA, people still drool over it and envy me for having it. I don't collect cars for value, I collect for fun.
I drove a 440 Superbird for 2 years when prices were insane, and i did not care because i got it to drive. Got a steal on it with a bad motor, pulled it dropped a new style hemi in it and drove the hell out of it, got dents and dings just like your 4 door grocery getter. sold it after I got rear ended, because the insurance payout was more than i had into it.
I also have a collection of some of the rarest fiero's out there, and i still like to drive them too.
So if you already know what it is worth why did you ask here? Generally salvage = 1/2 value, that is the rule of thumb. You obviously know better then everyone else, so why bother asking?

Exactly. Once the title indicates salvage, its collectiveness gets thrown right out of the window. The only value it holds at that point is in quality of the parts, and/or sentimental value. At this point, it has about as much appeal as a low mileage '89 GTA w/LC2 swap, and you can get a decent amount of money for it if you find the right buyer <cough> like me <cough> lol. This TTA was once a beautiful car too, but once the insurance companies are made aware of the damage, the party is over as far as collectibility goes....
Personally I would give about $6K to $7K for the car... As long as it, runs, drives and shifts fine ,and the engine and dash are all intact. But that is me.
Personally I do not consider the TTA as a rare car, it is an uncommon car, but not rare by any stretch. They made 1555 of them, and honestly you can buy one any day of the week. The only rare thing about your particular car is the cloth seats... but honestly I would prefer Leather even though the cloth is more rare...
In a quick search I found 14 to 20 TTA's for sale around the country, I did not see if Any ads crossed over from Craigslist, Autotrader and ebay. Honestly I found one for $5500 but it has title issues, and the engine is out of it...
