Re: Delco radios with iPod inputs installed. Both radio harness types 82-88 and 89-92
still awaiting your reply to see if you can fix my factory radio and add the ipod input to it. the radio seems to have been working fine it just only puts out to one speaker. if you cant fix it id be interested in the yellow letter style with tapedeck that came in the 92 z-28's. thanks!
Re: Delco radios with iPod inputs installed. Both radio harness types 82-88 and 89-92
Sorry. Been busy with things around here. Just got my garage finished wiring and dont even have tools put away yet. Plus seems like Im having to fix one of the lawn mowers every week. I believe I have all the parts here I need to start doing this again
I just picked up a battery charger (for the lawn mowers go figure ) with a 50 amp quick start so it should serve as a power supply
Ill try and get all my crap organized tomorrow and see if any of these radios I have are any good
To Joes407, sorry, I cant really repair much on these radios.
Jediknight912, Ive never comes across one of these and I doubt I ever will. Those cars are pretty picked over by the time I get there
My86, Ill have to look. Ive got a billion things packed into 11ty boxes
Ill try and get back to this as I just got an 81Z28 and am wanting to build a 450+HP 383 stroker and could use the funds
Not a third gen but I like her

As long as it was the eaxact same faceplate with buttons in the same spot
Youd have to be very careful with the 4 plastic tabs on the back sides of the faceplate. They can break easily

Re: Delco radios with iPod inputs installed. Both radio harness types 82-88 and 89-92
I don't know either I have pm'd him and e-mailed and posted with no response. Either he is busy (which I am sure is the case) or he doesn't want to make any money. I am definitely down for one when/if he decides to do them again. He has been on everyday that I have checked but hasn't posted on here so it is anyone's guess.
Re: Delco radios with iPod inputs installed. Both radio harness types 82-88 and 89-92
anybody else get a response from John? He pm'd me and said
"Hey whats up. Sorry. Dont go on the internet too much. Especially since spring. Between mowing, fixing mower, and getting an old pickup and camaro I havent had time to get the elctronics stuff out.
Ill try and fit in tomorrow. At least testing and verifying Ive got a good deck for you anway. Ive got a few decks with the pre 89 plugs that I know of off hand "
but that was on the 24th of last month??? probably too busy to worry about it now

I have not heard anything from him. In fact I am thinking of checking other places to find someone that can do this. I figure I will give him another week or so and then I am going to start looking elsewhere. I have some shows that are several hours away that I want to take my car to and this would be REALLY nice to have for those trips..
Re: Delco radios with iPod inputs installed. Both radio harness types 82-88 and 89-92
Hey guys, I don't mean to jack the thread or anything, but if anyone is interested I have one of John's 89+ decks that I don't need anymore. PM if interested.
Re: Delco radios with iPod inputs installed. Both radio harness types 82-88 and 89-92
you could always make a harness using the 3 plugs which you can find on ebay and then the 2 plugs from an 89+solder and heatshrink the wires. If you get the plugs I can do it for $10.
Re: Delco radios with iPod inputs installed. Both radio harness types 82-88 and 89-92
Found a place on the web that does conversion harnesses for early to late and late to early; very reasonably priced, too. Dunno where the stupid link is, think I found it on the desktop at home, will be lost in the wilderness of MS Vista! Started the search with google, so it can't be that hard.

Re: Delco radios with iPod inputs installed. Both radio harness types 82-88 and 89-92
Sir i have a question for you, i have a 1983 camaro z28 with no radio, i bought a used one from a junk yard, i think it came out of a 91 blazer, the wiring plugs are the same and fit right up, its a am/fm cassette.......my problem is when i turn the car on and try to turn on the radio, the clock comes on for a few seconds and then goes out,, nothing works on it at all. the stack of radios you have in the pic........my radio is the third one down on the left side.. I hope i did not buy a piece of xxxx from them. thanks for any help.. john
Re: Delco radios with iPod inputs installed. Both radio harness types 82-88 and 89-92
I'm interested as well, I would need a pre 87 (or 89?) radio cassette with EQ (RPO UU6).
I have a question though, would it be possible to get the mp3 player input in the back of the radio ? I don't want any wire mess in front of the shifter as I will install the mp3 player in the ashtray.
Here's the exact model :

Re: Delco radios with iPod inputs installed. Both radio harness types 82-88 and 89-92
I am interested in purchasing a radio with AUX input. I don't know what was offered with the harness for a '92 Camaro, but if possible I'd like a Bose AM/FM, CD & Cassette as well as an equalizer. I have a feeling that doesn't exist, so this is my priority of features I want: 1-AM/FM, 2-Bose, 3-CD, 4-Cassette, 5-EQ.
I would like the AUX input to come out the back though.
Also, I don't know if this is possible but...I'm planning on installing a CarPC. It would be awesome if the CD player in the factory radio could be upgraded to a DVD player that could be plugged into the CarPC using USB. Then I could load my DVDs into the factory stereo and have them play on my display. It would be even cooler if it could still work with CD changer controls in the factory radio.
Hope to hear from you soon.
EDIT: If you don't think the CD-DVD conversion would be possible, my priorities would change to 1-Bose, 1-EQ, 3-AM/FM, 4-Cassette, 5-CD.
