Did GM ever make a mechanical speedo for a TA that went over 85?

You might double check your info. The 145's, for example, didn't appear in Camaros until 86, IIRC.

Years ago; I saw a cable driven Firebird speedo that read 160MPH or something like that. The guy told me it was a GM part - but not factory installed. Kind of like the 145 "Z28" speedo for the 82-84 Camaro.
I've got a 84 TA cluster showing 140,............... But it's METRIC and the readout is in KPH !! ( from a canadian car ).
Sorry I don't have what you need - just adding my

Just an FYI: Camaro speedos were mechanical from 82-89. The speedo head is a direct swap. No need to touch the needle.

not true, some speedos had white needles some orange.... thus a change to match yours may be necessary

I see. While that may be true, messing with the needles is a design for disaster: plastic, fragile, breakable. And, of course, even if you're successful, you'll have to fiddle with the needle again to get the head to read correctly. Possible to do, yes; recommended, no. If you swap in the entire cluster, there'd be no need anyway.

Simo, do you think that speedo is a direct fit for an 85 TA with TPI?

It would be a direct fit for either of them but the 85 gauges have the crossing pattern on the gauge faces rather then the plain black surface. You can contact
http://www.autoinstruments.com
They have this for the 1983.
They may be able to do a 1985 as well.
There is also
http://www.speedometerplus.com/
Good luck.

Where would I get a metric speedo for my 88 GTA? Our speed limits are all in KPH here.
