Re: need heater box part

It looks like the clip retaining the cable and the cable will separate cleanly from the box, and it also appears that the metal pin / metal bracket are part of the door and therefore a part of the box assembly. You *Might* be able to use the same part from a regular AC box ?!?!? When I get my hands on an AC box I'll compare the bracket to the one on the Non-AC box and update this thread.............

I can't pull this little piece from my box for Ya',....... but wanted to post a picture so that people can see what you are looking for.

Hope this helps !!!!!

Re: need heater box part

YES - The Box WAS pulled form an 83 Camaro. That picture is from a NON AC Box, I JUST looked at 3 non-AC boxes they all looked like the bracket in my first post. I KNOW that one of the other boxes was from an 85 Bird but I don't know what year the 3rd box was.

I also looked at 4 AC style heater core boxes that have a brace that looks like this: ( they could be from any years between 85-92, I can't be sure ! )

After looking at tham I can say that - The brace IS a part of the door itself and it looks like your going to need to swap the door or the whole box if your bracket is busted.

I forgot there was any difference at all ! The Non AC style box always seems to be covered by an extra trim panel and the brace is not normally visible. I removed the plastic cover to take the pic of the Non AC style box ! ( at least non of the AC style cars I've had came with a plastic cover over the cable - That's a good "POLL" question !! )

Re: need heater box part

yes! that last pic is what i have, i may have to swap the whole door, i believe this can be done inside the car by removing the front cover.

john can you get a pic of the door inside the heater box with the cover removed? can you spare that part?

Re: need heater box part

My little lever is broken and would look exactly like the second picture, if it were still there. There's a bunch of yards around here with A/C thirdgens, but can you pull that whole box out with the door in it without removing the dash?
