Has anyone ever spray painted their dash pad? I had a pole go through my window and make a nice hole in the dash pad. I used a vinyl repair kit and got the texture looking good but cant get the gloss of the included paint to match right so im thinking im gonna rattle can the whole dash. Would the best option be the Krylon for plastics paint? or is there something else out there? Thanks
Steven

Sorry to hear about the pole. I certainly wouldn't trust any kind of spray painting of the dash as it may melt the outer vinyl coating. Might try some sort of vinyl dye or the like?
I used the Dupli-Color Vinyl and fabric coating. Works well but a little too glossy initially. Too much reflections in the windshield on a bright sunny day. A few good cleanings helps to dull the finish a bit to kill the reflections.
You have to sometimes. I just sold mine, it was in perfect shape, except the colour had faded. Was only black on the underside, but light grey everywhere else. Dust, and no air circulation contributed to it. Ive also used the dupli-colour vynil, (on my 71 buick), i bought the wrong colour door skins, door handles, and seat backings, just make sure you prep it correctly, cuz if you mess up, this stuff is very hard to take off, and will flake in a few weeks if not applied correctly. They have degreaser and cleaner made especially for vinyl, check with NAPA< cant remember the exact product name. Good luck!
Hum,ok ill check out that vinyl spray then. My dash was mint b4 this happened and the insurance company doesnt understand how hard it is to find mint dashes so they wont do ****.

I painted the Dash Pad on The RS I had before it's accident.
I used the Krylon Gloss Black, they didn't have flat black or semi-gloss, anyway the only negative I found was on bright sunny days the Dash reflected the light on to the windshield and became annoying. Other than that it was all-good.
Suppliers like Classic and Year One have paint specifically for vinyl
& plastic interior pieces. If its a hard plastic like kick-panels, use
a primer that actually softens the surface a bit, so the color coat
actually soaks in. I've had good luck with it. I believe replacement
units are available from the Classic & Year One, and maybe the
sponsor HawksThirdGenParts.

I would just replace the dash pad and find a nice mint one. You probably won't be happy repairing or repainting it.
