stock 87 firebird formula 350TPI door panels need some serious attention, just put in new black carpet over the summer, now need door panels etc to match...i wanted a diff style and not a factory replacement, interior was gray and not i want it black. ive seen pics on the threads of some nice setups and i want to know where u got them from, its not the normal door setup its the newer style with the curved inside door handle and not that huge plastic rectangle and i want to keep it that way.... anyone know of any good places?
yea i think mine might be the delux bc my car isnt a GTA, is there any places for custom ones? maybe with a diff material or logo on it etc? there are some from members that ive seen
Yeah, I have delux door panels too (you can see a good pic in my "R.I.C.E.R. seats?" thread), and I too am looking to change door panels. I'm going with a custom setup, though. My gf knows how to sew well (almost professional level, since its just a hobby) and we're going to get some vinyl and do a couple of desings and possibel embroider. I do not thing I'm going to stick with the 3-d parts. I might just put speakers in the doors...
Mods so far: MSD Cap and rotor, MSD ignition coil, Accel 8.8mm ignition wires, Hooker Super Comp Shortie Headers, Flowmaster 3in catback, underdrive crank pulley, custom cold air intake, NOS wet 125 shot, air foil and a lead foot! no E/T's yet. ...TURBO COMING SOON...Other mods include keyless entry and remote start, and Sequential Turn Signals.
custom door pannels are a pain in deed. we will have some molded abs door pannels that will utilize the existing mounting points and mount correctly to the factory door location but will look alot like the newer 4thgen doors very soon here. should be available by mid summer.
Put me on the list of people to contact ASAP when you have some more info on those - will ya'?
I had just started thinking along those exact lines myself - but if this is something that you're already working on, I'll concentrate on the rear side panels! Please hit me on PM or email whenever you have something you can reveal design-wise as I'd prefer to try to match the two as much as possible.
yea def add my name to that list, i might have to do my own tho i hate having wat other people have...i like to stand out . but i had a prob stretching the cloth over the delux door panel where the arm rest is, bc of the tight radius u cant just lay the cloth ontop and just glue it down, some how u have to heat it and stretch it and some how find some kinda glue thats crazy strong. if anyone does it, make sure u post pics of the process etc, bc i def want to do this to match my new carpet etc.
I never found any aftermarket door panels. I went to the fabric store, found some cool fabric that matched my car colors and had a seemstress/sewing lady sew up my design. I made it pretty simple, two tone red/black with a bird symbol. I than took off the existing fabric, and used the headliner spray glue to keep it in place. I also used a bit of ductape, on the back side where you can't see it and taped the ends down for added stability. 50 bucks later I had new door panels. I am sorry i don't have a pic anymore since I sold the car, but its pretty dang easy. I'd do a search on door panels, and see if any of those guys would be willing to make you some.
I might be able to make your design from the fabric I choose, and I can have the seamstress lady sew it together, but I am not sure how you want to tacle this.
At least, there are a lot of people on here that are willing to help.
They raised the price since I bought them, but still worth it IMO. I beilive they can work with "deluxe" panels as well if I'm not mistaken. Had mine for about 6 months now with no issues in quality. I love them.

Ken
almost have them done ken. can't say they are cheap though as it's been expensive to find someone to do such a low production. if i make more copies that would bring costs down but i'm already over $700 a pannel and it isn't finished.
just for kicks i put up the custom pannels a shop made me out of wood/fiberglass on ebay. i paid $500 for the pair with those, interested to see how much they end up going for. custom work is extremely expensive if you pay someone else to do it. unfortunately with abs the machines required just are feasible for a normal individual to own them.
