Alright, anyone with pic, description, instructions or just plain comments from the peanut gallery, please respond. I've decided to "try" an aftermarket wheel. I'll leave my choice unmentioned to keep this thread topic on the wheel adapter. I've seen a few brands that seem to have a rather large obtrusive looking piece that mounts to the column. Is this correct? Is this what you guys running aftermarket wheels have all had to do? ...the adapter is the hardest part for me to swallow. CAN"T WE TALK ABOUT THIS??????????

I have a Grant steering wheel, the adapter hub is, id say, less than 1/2in, but it comes with a "bell" or "bowl" that covers the hub and makes it flush to the steering column. I've very happy that I did...

i have a grant i thought about installing as well, the bell isnt flush though, its the same gap as the factory steering wheel is, so you can move the tilt anyway.

Thats the same exact one I have. Did you get the horn to work, the person who had the car before me had to rewire it to a seperate button by my knees.

Yeah, I have an adapter for my momo wheel, but I can't say it sticks out that much?

Yeah, I got it to work, but I had to make my own "button mechanism". I'm not sure how the intentional Grant set up is suppose to work, since it comes with a silver(foil) sticker that doesn't even seem like it conducts electricity. What I did is tape a metal washer to the hub/inside steering wheel (connected to the [+] of the horn) and another washer to the plate that holds the horn button in place (which is "pushed away" by the spring) so when I press the horn button, both the washers touch and comple the current, thus HONK!

can you use these on cars w airbags ... i dont care about losing the bag but does it mount the same

yeah, it can be used with airbag cars. And obviously, you do loose the use of the air bag. Just cut the wires that go to the airbag and hide them behind the hub. It might cause the SES light to come on but I'm not 100% sure. But the regular Grant hub will fit GM cars...

do you need a steering wheel puller to remove the factory steering wheel? (if so which kind) and if I got a grant wheel from jegs, the challanger model pictured, which I did will I need an adapter or any kind? thanks.

You'll need a puller (most, IIRC, will adapt). My Grant came with a rubber piece that fit between the wheel and column. I wasn't enamored with it, so I purchased the billet adapter, which you can see in the link I provide above.

I have a gt grant in my 88. I would say it is a nice wheel, its cheap, and it looks good. But, the horn thing is a joke. I cant believe they sell garbage like that. I wouldnt have installed it personally, but the PO did. He never got the horn working, and I just plain havent bothered. I dont honk at people, I flip them off.

I went with the billet adapter from Grant when I installed my Grant Boomerang wheel. Didn't have any horn hook up issues.

Alright how do yall have this challanger wheel on your camaros when there isnt an adapter listed for 82-92 camaros? or if there is where is it, cuz jegs and grant dont list it. Need help...got my steering wheel today..no mention of need for adapter kit till I open the box.
