Busy morning/afternoon

Since we've been having some nice weather this week, and today was no exception, I decided to do some interior work to the 89. I finally got around to installing the front carpet that I bought from another member of my regional club.

After removing the seats and console, I found lots of junk left by the previous owner.

After removing the carpet and cleaning everything up, I found a floor board in very good shape.

Before putting the new carpet in, I put in a layer of sound deadening material (aka Peel-N-Seal from my local Lowe's).

And this is what it finished up looking like.

Nice job with the '89s interior. I have the same year and same square steering wheel horn. I picked up an IROC steering wheel with the round horn very cheap at a swap meet. Makes a big difference.

i just found more rust at the firewall to floor seam. right kickpannel. all the upright rocker pannels are rusted, and teh whole back seat area that attaches to the frame. im going to make some 2x3 framing and install new metal should be prety strong

Ummmm....How did you NOT know that wasn't "small"?

I see a missing seat mount bar...Even if I'm wrong, one step inside the car & your foot is through to the ground. The carpet isn't gonna support your weight.
