i have an old 21 year old console in my t/a and i love it, except that the foam/vinyl skin is detaching from the plastic core...what would be the best way to re-glue this? i was thinking of some gorilla glue/wood/c-clamps, but i dont like how gorilla glue foams up and expands like that....like it would be amazing if they had super glue in a bottle the size of gorilla glue....anyone have any suggestions on what to use to re-glue this?
thanks
-brian
p.s.....what about maybe weather strip adhesive? the only thing is that the plastic core seems kinda slippery for some reason, i dont know how well weather strip adhesive would hold up on it

I had a 84 celebrity that the dash did that, I tried many glues nothing worked, until i used liquid nails (projects and construction) and some c-clamps and a board, never ever had an issue with it again. try that
well yes the dash is cracked, but im going to get a new one
and this is the center console, the vinyl skin is pulling away from the console itself...ill see if i can get some pictures and im going to try some weather strip adhesive too
ehh....im not a big fan of doin too much 4th gen stuff...just my feeling on it is that if you want a 4th gen interior, then dont get a 3rd gen and thats just me, others lovveee having an all out 4th gen inside and i understand liking the updated interior, but im gonna stick with the 3rd gen....plus doing the repairs on this is a nice way to keep myself busy while i have nothing else to do and no other funds right now to continue on this interior overhaul
right now the weather strip adhesive is holding pretty good (knock on wood)
and the console from a prelude, i have no idea, ive never seen it and i guess the best way to find out is to go to the junkyard and find one, and try it out....i cant imagine one costing too much from there

I know what you mean about not wanting the 4th gen stuff, I'd rather keep mine original too. I think just about every Firebird I have seen (including mine) has the console problem. I have heard of people using some type of epoxy, and they say it works. I need to fix mine too, but other things are first on my priority list.

the epoxy ive used on mine is a 2 part its called 5 minute epoxy you can get it from autozone for like 6 bucks and man that stuff holds anything together ill try to get a link of it but its in a black 2 part tube only problem is it dries in like a yellowish color
well ive just been using black super weather strip adhesive from 3m...it seems to be holding well and after i get my new heater mode switch in from ups then i can throw that in and then the console and see how it works out...hopefully i dont have to put the screws back in likethe old owner had it lol

well when i had the carpet out i had to take out that console with the radio and such so i was able to determine the problem then and there...but now i think i may have to take all that back out cuz theres not much room on that heater stuff to pull it out like the radio so thats why im waiting on that to do the console
