Changing to red "bulbs" is easy. The light is orange because the bulbs have little orange "rubbers" on them. I pulled the bulbs out and colored each one of the orange rubbers with a red sharpie then put them back in. I've had red gauges for over a year and a half so far with no problems.

Re: Removing instrument cluster.....

That would be easiest. Some bulbs can be soldered into their socket and the only way to remove them is from behind by removing the twist socket they're in. The speedo cable has a catch or lock at the speedo head that can be released with your finger, but it's hard to reach if you have big hands. Lowering the steering column can make things easier too.

Hey sheltonw3, by that user name and location on your profile, I would assume you're in Shelton, WA. Just down HWY 3 from me.

Re: Removing instrument cluster.....

also if you can reach in there to pop the clip for the speedo cable you can unbolt a few clips in the engine bay that hold the cable in place and slack some cable through the firewall grommet. . . it really makes things a hell of a lot easier

I was invited 2 months ago when I was gasing up at a near by station and this tall Dude with a goetee standing next to a black GTA told me about the site, the guy asked me if my car was a Recaro,I replied no,but this was the same day that I got done changing out a fuel pump and I probably looked like Hell done come to Frog town?

But either way I am there now!

I replaced my stock bulbs with LEDs. I found them on ebay, the guys user id is 2fast4u_performance. It was easy and they look great! My buddie changed out his 98's bulbs with LEDs too! I Did not see any 1st or 2nd gen dash kits available..

I used these LEDs in white for my trucks dash, plan on doing red in my trans am. Post some pics if you can when you finish your project whether you go w/ leds or not

ohh yeah ...do I need to unplug the battery cable before doing this?...I really don't want to as it would reset the damn E.C.M.!
