86 firebird SE? strainge hood wheels, and interior. Need seats...RECARO?.
Ok I bought this 86 firebird a while back from a friend that just drove it into the ground.. The 305 is blown up. Beside I am going to install a 350ish engine and nice exhuast ,I want it just like it was when new. It originally was red. these are the original wheels and hood.. It also has overhead console and originaly had cloth seats that the bottom adjusted.. like the recaro seats in my grand national.. The fabric was shot but were recoverable... WELL my buddy threw them away and installed a crappy set of camaro seat... ANYWAYS... I need to find another set of these seats to recover.. what kind would they have been and where can I get them and does anyone have a pic of what they should look like? Here are the wheels, never seen a set exactly like this.. and the hood.. It looks like a trans am hood with only the front set of louvers... again never seen one.. and didnt know they could come on a regular firebird.. I know the original owner and besides being spraybomed in primer, its never been wrecked or painted so its all original.
Re: 86 firebird SE? strainge hood wheels, and interior. Need seats...RECARO?.
That is how the '85-86 Firebird SE's looked. They had the T/A hood but without rear extractor vents. The 15x7 crosslace rims were introduced in '85 and came on the SE or optional on the T/A. That style rim was available again in '92 on base Firebirds. The tail lights are also from the T/A but with a specific Firebird S/E center peice.
The orginal were the Lear Siegler multi-adjustable. In cloth they cost around $750 and in leather over $1000. Due to their high price this makes them hard find today as there were probably less than 10,000 cars with that option. There is a thread with pictures on these seats in the History/Restoration section. They were optional in the Camaro and Firebird from '82-86.

Ok, changing my sarcastic post; I just learned something, and indeed you have a ridiculously rare hood. Oh, and your friend is an idiot for throwing those Lear-Siegler seats away.

I agree. I have them and they're very nice for seats that old. The problem is that PUI doesn't seem to care much about these seats and the seat covers are repoduced. It's sad because only the front bottoms are different from the common Deluxe seats.
