Hi all,
I need a pic of the rear hatch motor on how its mounted, I pulled the rear plastic piece off today and there was no motor there, good thing I had ordered one already. I can't figure out where it mounts, so if someone would be so kind to send me a pic of everything in that area, it would be most appreciated! Thx

OK....I took some pics of my hatch, so if someone could tell me what I'm missing (that attaches to the gear) and how the motor attaches and where, I would be grateful.

hey, your missing the actual motor!
but see those plastic chips in your last pic? i am pretty sure you need a new plastic piece to go there, and the motor attaches to the plastic
but i am not positive because my car is not here and i can not find my spare hatch motor pieces to look at.

The motor is sitting on top of latch in 2nd pic, just so u can see I have it
I'm thinking something needs to mount up to the gear that's there? The metal plate sitting on top of that gear is just sitting on there.
What plastic pieces are you referring to? The motor starts moving when I plug it into the black plastic piece that is hanging there. But, I have no idea what/how the motor actually attaches to the gear or bracket?

if your going to the junkyard, make sure the plastic is intact where it screws into the metal, i have like 3 and almost all the screw holes are cracked or the corner is broken off!
If you're going with junkyard pieces, most likely the motor will be as popballz showed. That is the old-style motor and slips into a slot in the clear plastic motor housing. You can get a motor and housing from the following vehicles:
I would recommend getting a new motor housing. They are often broken where the 3 screws mount it to the frame on Pick-a-Part cars. The old-style motor has been replaced by the new-style motor and housing combination that was posted from 1A Auto. It is interchangeable for the original one you're missing. FYI, I improve on new by reinforcing the plastic motor housng with aluminum & epoxy where it attaches with 3 screws to the frame. I'd also replace the gearnut with a new one while you're at it. Slide the latch assy off of the frame and check the condition of the guides while you're at it. Clean the tracks and re-lube. Actually I recommend following the Tech Article I wrote that is posted on this site. I'm goign to post all the parts you're missing and the TDS part numbers. You can buy them from me or at least have a picture of each for when you go to the PAP yard.
Parts you're missing:
motor: TDS 205280
motor housing: GM 20160581 (or get the new style motor & Housing instead)
wave washer: TDS 502050
(5) screws: No. 14 Size, 5/8" Length
(1) Phillips-head screw (attaches the reversing switch to the motor housing)
Parts I'd recommend getting while you're at it:
Reinforced housing: TDS 103121
gear nut: TDS 109111
aftermarket guides: TDS 101170
does anyone notice that his assembly has screws holding it in place where the slider areas are? I did something similar, but make sure you clean up the areas that got drilled out, or you'll run the risk of burn out the motor due to the trackings not being able to slide smoothly (or at all if you leave those screws in place)

Yes CAM, I noticed that when I was looking at it and thought it looked rigged, so I just bought a whole latch assy today for $60.

Definitely get a new gear nut. I order one a while ago and just replaced it today since it warmed up. I had the classic motor continues to run and hatch doesn't lock problem. That cheap plastic gear nut completely fixed my problem since the old one had no teeth left on it. Simple fix too if you check out the instructions in the tech article section.
