i'm no smoker, but i have a friend that smokes. i let him smoke in my car with the window down a few times. that was my cavalier. i don't let any of my smoking friends do that anymore. not only do i not like it, but i don't want to get in trouble. (me and my friends are under 18)

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I used to smoke but have since quit. I got started because it was cool to me. I quit a few years ago when my daughter was born. Sometimes kids make you think. All I can say is its hard to quit. I quit several times but I finally did stop. I just got my 89 Camaro and they DEFINATELY had been smoking in it. It smelled like smoke but I just finished shampooing the interior, taking out the headliner to redo it, and the smell has left. There are cigarrette burns on the back seat. I hate that but I have to admit I was responsible for one or two in my day on other cars. One time it was really dark and I started to light up. I lit the wrong end. Man it was horrible. I should have quit then but I didn't. I am not trying to judge smokers but look at it like this...If you quit smoking just look how much extra $ you could put into your Camaro. Even at a pack a week it adds up fast.

Don't smoke in mine, don't smoke at all. My dad did when he had the car, that was before he stopped smoking. Took me a while to get the smell out even tho he always had the windows down. I don't let anyone smoke in my car. I've put to much money in it for that.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

Smoke in mine, Pritty disgusting story. had my center consul out to change my clutch and lost all the screws so i only had the lower portion in for about half a year. As habbit I usually light up whenever i hop in the car and after a time i got a quarter inch layer of ashes in the whole thing from banging gears. when i fix and replace the carpet and interior i will stop smoking in it.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

i used to smoke in the car, but due to the current state haven;t had the chance, also trying to quit, it is a filthy habit, and i wish i had never started, i thought it made me cool but i guess im still a dork with a semi stinky car, the only thing that smokes in the car now is the welder. and to all you younger thinrd geners quit now or dont start. the one thing that even the smokers have to agree on is that most of us wish we didnt start, its expensive, smells like ****, and ther is that inevitable cigarette burn that will happen that will piss you off

Well I don't smoke and I don't allow smoking in my van or my Firebird. Unfortunately my husband does smoke in his car and in my truck.

But I'm cutting him a deal...since between a pack a day and life insurance we could save $3,000 a year, if he quits he can get the '79 Firebird that he wants to restore...only if he quits though.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

Well I smoke in all our cars and my in garage and house. If it is mine I'm smokin in it. I feel it helps keep the white trash image of owning a third gen, but wait I smoke in my 69 and smoking was cool back then! All I say is there is a lot of taxes being paid by smokers that if everyone quits will come have to come from some place else and smokers cost medicare less in the long run because they die earlier! If any one wants to know I am smoking as I type this!

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

Smokers get screwed with taxes , healthcare , and life insurance. Our Gov. wants the smokers to stop so they don't have to spend money on them in healthcare that's why they raised taxes on the cigarettes to fund healthcare for us so if we guit smokeing we wouldn't have to worry about our health coverage but then we would worry about our tobacco farmers going under . WHAT IS THIS COUNTRY COMEING TO ? I'll tell you I bet in the next 100yrs we won't have a democracy we will have a communism telling us what to do or not to do or be imprisonned . the Gov. already pushes us around with things we can or can't do . And they send good men and wemon to fight a war that needs to be over before now but we still have troops fighting and not home with there familys . GOD BLESS AMERICA CAUSE NO ONE ELSE WILL .

no, but my car was heavily smoked in. I don't even smoke. When I got my car though, there was a lot of tobacco (i think) in the car. The seatbelt receivers were pretty stuffed with it, and there was a lot under the seats.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I smoke in my 92. Im 19, but started shortly after I turned 16. Its a horrible habit, and I would quit in a heart beat if I could manage without cigarettes. At one point I was smoking 2 packs a day. I would pick up a pack in the morning, have that done before I went to work, and pick another pack on the way to work and have the finished by the time I was done with work (I was allowed to smoke while working). I am down to a pack a day, but thats still not good enough. I hope I can quit soon.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

For those who smoke/ have smoked only what do you think the best way to clean the smell/ ash from smoking out of our thirdgens.
THERE ARE YOU HAPPY?!?! now this thread has a point that you can't even argue against.

Im 18 smoking since 15 and a half and went from a pack a day to 3 cigs spaced out every few days. Almost quit and have done so many times but this will be the final time. And yes I smoke in my car to help keep me calm when I get cut-off all the time. Windows down no ashtray and guess what. No cig smell or ash in the car.
Want to talk about litter what is all that mcd's wrappers and **** on the side of the road?

Has no one looked around and realized how corrupt this country is? Mainly the politicians.

Do you realize that you can burn THE AMERICAN FLAG during a demonstration and yet if you start talking about the government and how they are such f***-ups then you get tossed in jail?

Bars were forced to ban smoking and cigs have been taxed like hell and are going up more.
Yes cigs are unhealthy but so alcohol, driving, the sun, foods, well i guess it would be quicker to say if ur still alive and breathing then it is dangerous for you.

Where do we as americans get the idea that we can go force our ideas and beliefs on other people and that it is better for them. In the past religons have been forced upon cultures, more recently governments (middle east for example). Of course health and how you should live fits in there too.

I didn't mean to have this turn into such a long post but when I start typing I just go. On a final note this thread is no different then the one on the street racing boards, So if you don't like it don't bother posting.

The difference between smoking & drinking is....

If a person drinks or even gets drunk, they only do damage to themselves. Its the actions afterwards, like driving afterwards, that can possibly hurt others. So really...JUST the act of drinking, doesn't hurt anybody but the person drinking.

But actions like smoking....Second hand smoke hurts others, that are simply breathing. In an enclosed space, they don't really get a choice. Breathe or die (or leave). But why should a person be forced to leave, just because another person is "killing" them?

I know I'm gonna get flamed for this post. Oh well. I'm simply looking at it from a third party viewpoint.

I invite the smokers to give their viewpoint of how smoking in public should be allowed......Public implies EVERYBODY. Not just a certain group, right? The non-smokers are not harming those who do smoke by telling them they can't, but smokers will harm those who don't (besides themselves).

I'm all for letting a person harm themselves. They know the risk...Let them do it, but only where they can't affect others.

:flame suit on:

Well I can't really call myself a smoker as I hardly smoke anymore but I will say that as a society we have become so politically correct that we now let the minorities have all the power. and offending someone has become such a huge crime...
When I go into public I look at it this way. I am no longer home and there for cannot get everything the way I want it. If someone wants to speed its not my job to stop them (maybe race them) and if someone wants to run red lights, drink, do whatever I can't stop them because guess what. I choose to leave the comforts of home and travel thru the insane asylum; by doing so I have to put up with it.

I'm all for letting a person harm themselves. They know the risk...Let them do it, but only where they can't affect others.

:flame suit on:
Not really sure whats up with that (^) I thought we were here to have a simple discussion not a flat out arguement that would turn into "to smoke or not to smoke". I'm always up for a logical discussion but hate when ppl get immature about it (not targetting the poster above)

I think I covered everything...

Nobody smokes in mine. Not only because I'm a non-smoker but because having something that's on fire in a firebird's interior just doesn't sound like a good idea.

I agree with stephen. Everybody has bad habbits. But why effect other people with your habbit. People get smoking break at work. Why can't I get a beer break? Also smoking in a car get nasty. Bought a car one time that the dude smoked cigars. Had lighter color interior and stained it! But to each there own. You wan't to keep your car nice?

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

Not trying to flame anyone but I hate smoking, I don't see a point at all. I don't like smoking or drinking. I tried it once, and I thought it was gross and I will never do it again. I used to work in a sports bar/restaurant and when I came home everyday I smelled of smoke. It always amazes me how smokers never really realize how absolutely horrid they smell. I had a bunch of friends that smoked, they always REEKED of cigarettes and they always told me they didn't smell anything. I got into a friends car that he smoked in everyday and he had a little glade bathroom freshener on the dash that he thought made everything smell nice because he is so used to smoke that he cant even smell it anymore. That was the grossest smelling car I have ever been in.... I will never date a smoker. Cant stand it. If anyone thinks they are going to smoke in my pride and joy they are getting punched in the mouth and pushed the **** out.

NO!!! Why would I want to botch up a perfect interior?! Besides, I don't smoke and if you want to get in my car, you'll put it out or walk.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

smoking tobacco is the most American thing to do. It helped boom the economy and is still today a big influence in the money market.. Ill have smoke when i drink but when i got make myself look powerful, a cigg has a nice touch-and intimidation.

I smoke in all of my vehicles except my Camaro... She's being restored to take to shows - cigarette burns don't do well with judges!

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

Will NOT smoke in the Camaro, but I do in my truck going to and from work. No, it's not a good habit, yes I know it could be the end of me, but I NEVER smoke around other people. (Unless I am at a bar downing some adult beverages... Can't help that... Sorry!) Out on a summer drive, the Camaro smokes more than me! Poor tires! Oh, NO... Second hand tire smoke!

Just think... Smoke 4 packs a week thats $24.00 approx. So thats $96.00 a month you could be putting into your camaro. Or $1152.00 a year! Thats a paint job!

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I was driving my bonneville with one of my friends in the passenger seat. he pulled out a pack and I nearly pushed him out of the car while it was still moving. The door was open, but the stupid seat belt stopped me from success.... Never smoked, never will. No one smokes in my cars.

That bugs me so much. im a cook at work, but me and the younger cooks and the dish bit**es have to stay way later than the servers to clean. and the servers go out and smoke every chance they get. but if we go outside for second we get yelled at and were running like 5 more hours a night than them. ugh, it bugs me sometimes working in a resturant like i worked 13.5 hours on sunday.
