Do what I did at one job. I took up "smoking"......

I'd go outside, light up a cigarette & set it beside me. When it was done burning, I'd go back inside.

When other non-smokers started taking "smoking breaks" (Boss...We'll quit with there is no preferred treatment.) the payed for smoking breaks stopped being allowed! And even then, people were only allowed to smoke at regular break times & at lunch!

Power to the people!

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I personally don't smoke and I have never tried. I have an everyday car and I allow my fiance to smoke in that. But when it comes to my Camaro. Screw that. You smoke in my Camaro...I don't care who you are...your walking home. I like to keep things clean and I seem to find out if your a smoker that's a hard thing to do when it comes to ashes. Plus I really don't like it and I don't want my car smelling like it.

it just goes to show people who smoke like George Burns for instance
are not necessarily doomed to dying from the effects of smoking
especially when there is evidence some people with cancer never smoked
I smoke in my old car with the window down and do not smoke in my baby
and I guess it all depends on what you're smokin

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I dont smoke, but when i was looking for a camaro, i saw tons that the owners must have smoked in. Everyone i saw had the nasty cigg smell in the interior. I started to wonder if it was a requrirement to smoke while driving an f-body

I did find one that was not smoked in, and love it!

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I dont smoke, and never will. The person that had my car before me had smoked a little because i had 2 burns in my seat. I got the seat fixed, so no more burns. I dont even let my friends chew in my car.. lol The rules in my car are NO smoking, chewing, drinks, food, pets, really anything that could damage the interior in any way.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I don't smoke- never have never will. I'm not really going to actively try to stop anyone else... it's just my choice. So naturally I don't smoke in my trans am.

But get this- one day at my highschool- I get out and go to drive home, and someone smoked in my car! My trans am! It smelled like smoke, the doors were partially open, and there were ashes inbetween the window and the side of the door (on the outside). I know it was two kids because both doors were partially left open (the smokers at my school are all skinny and weak and I bet they don't have the muscles to close my doors all the way lol jk you gotta really slam them). So I told the school, and they didn't do a thing. It is actually a state law they can't smoke on school grounds, let alone on my property! I haven't found them yet, but believe me, I will. I guess the 18 inch pipe wrench and basball bat (I don't play baseball) in the car weren't enough to scare them off!

I mean I'm not going to randomly go up to someone who's smoking on the street and tell them off, but smoking in my property? Lets just say they won't get off with a talking to when I find them...

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

It was unlocked. I stopped taking the keys to school because you could turn the ignition without a key inside. (No one knew except my brother). I'm in this advanced math program at UB too, so when I went there, I locked the doors. But at my own highschool, I stopped bothering. Basically the whole school knows its my car, and I'm 6'1'' with a mohawk so I didn't think anyone would do anything stupid. Now I know through this and other instances that there are people out there dumb enough to do just about anything, regardless of the consequences.

The fact that it was unlocked doesn't justify that some people smoked in it. No way in hell. It is illegal to smoke on school property anyway, and it was on my property, which I'm pretty sure is breaking and entering (or something, because they didn't really break anything). I was so pissed. I drove around for a while on some backroads with the windows down (this was relatively recent, it was freezing out) and parked in the garage with a fan blowing through the windows to get rid of the awful smell. I can't smell it anymore, thank god. I have 4th gen seats in there too... those were 200 bucks. I would have been pissed if they were ruined.

Needless to say, I lock the doors now... (all the time), and since there was no permanent harm done, I guess I can write it off as a 'learning experience,' but I was and still am very angry about it. I'll find them. I'm just busy with my scholarship and college applications at the moment.

I'm glad you do the right thing now. I don't care if you're 13'9'' with 5 mohawks, locking your **** is just the right thing to do.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

hahaha Amen to that. At least I know that now. Not like those locks really do that much, I mean I locked the keys inside one time, so I took a coat hanger and bent a small piece about a centimeter in at a very shallow angle, stuck it in the lock cylinder, and it opened just fine! (But they don't know that) Oh well I gotta get a new key set anyway, they aren't that expensive. Summit has some. Hopefully those will actually lock. I never really thought about an alarm system, but now that I got some subs maybe I'll look into one.

There's no doubt about locking it up is the right thing to do, hell now I lock my truck in my own driveway (trans ams in the garage and I have a long driveway in a semi-rural town). But when I told the school what happened (as an afterthought really), they asked the same thing. When I told them it was unlocked, they didn't just say, "oh well it should have been locked, you naive kid." That would have been fine. But they kind of implicated that the fact that my car was unlocked justified the smokers' actions. That was what really made me mad. Its like, oh, the back window on your house was unlocked, so I just hopped on in and stole all your ****. Have a nice day.

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

B&E is B&E no matter what, on one hand yeah it should have been locked, i had an instance once where a kid was IN my camaro when i came back to school, i used to ride the bus to a vocational school about 20 miles away and when i came back this kid was sitting in my car, he said he was a friend of a friend and i gave him like .05 seconds to blurt this out before i took my keys and wrapped my lanyard around his neck and choked him to the ground and proceeded to beat him senseless, in the school parking lot of all places lol turns out he really was a friend of my room mate and well, yeah i beat him senseless because he was just in my car lol funny thing was i did lock it

but locking i your car would have been a good thing, the kids shouldnt have been in your car for one and smoking in it, especially if you dont

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

Seeing how sticky/greasy the surface of the vinyl sunvisors of my 79 Esprit were, I will never allow anyone to smoke in any of my cars. That thing leaves a nasty coat on every part of the interior, and I don't want that in my lungs.

Non-smokers: Congrats on not starting, but shut the hell up. Calling it (not to mention smokers themselves) filthy, nasty, etc.. You guys sound like a bunch of 5 year olds.

Smokers: You all get it.. Does anyone really want to be addicted..not really, are we..yes. Any smoker understands the feeling of going on a cruise and having the relaxation of a smoke and your car.

As for the SMELL, its called FEBREEZE! It is not hard to keep your car from smelling like smoke, keep the windows down and spray somethin fresh in it once a day and your golden. And for the guys who say their GF's breath smelled like smoke.. Tell them to buy some pocket listerine and some gum. Second hand smoke? Grow a pair..

Say what you want, but this reminds me of the civil rights movement haha.

Ah yes, and just throwing the cigarette butt out the window when you're done with it, just wonderful. I got a lit cigarette stuck between my hood and windshield wiper once, I had to smell that crap the whole way home, so no, I don't like cigarette smoke, it is a horrible smell that makes it hard to breathe. But what do I know, I'm just a childish non-smoker.

Haha, well said.. I can understand both worlds cause I used to hate it too..till unfortunately the casual social smoke turned into habit.. but the way the guys on here approach it, it's like if you smoke your a filthy, nasty, dirty person. I couldn't disagree more. Nasty habit, yes.. bad smell.. to some.. Bad people? No.

I don't really know where I'm going with this, I just got pissed off for a sec.. but I had a smoke and now I'm relaxed again.

theres all kinds of reasons i wouldnt want to go to boston. a lot of the anti-smokers out here seem to be ok with weed though. and ive never seen second hand smoking on a death certificate. if they could, in california, they would.

Holy Sh!t when did that happen!!!!! But seriously, everyone who smokes knows it's bad, they just don't give a damn, at least I don't. I do smoke in my car BUT. I vacuum and clean the inside of my windows once a week. Other than the smell you'd never know I smoked in my car, like to keep her clean

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I don't smoke, and no one who smokes, has smoked in my car in 22 years, but the person(s) who drove my car for the first year of it's life did!!

One very "small" cigarette burn in the drivers seat, right between the legs, I hope he burned his, or her.....well, you fill in the blanks!!

If, (and that's a really big "if"), I have someone in my car who has to smoke, then I'll stop the car for them, and they can stand outside the car and smoke.

Personnally, I don't like the smell of a "burnt" cigarette, but I do like the smell of the fresh tobacco in a cigarette!! Open the pack, take a big whiff, aahhhh!!! Smells great!! Don't light it up, you'll ruin it!!!

I find the smell of cigarette smoke terrible, and if I've been out partying, the first thing that happens when I get home is I shower, to get the smell off of me!! Imagine this if you will, your a non-smoker, or a smoker, and your out partying, and you bring home this gorgeous woman, and your about to get to do the "horizontal bop", and all of a sudden, it's like you ate a dirty ashtray....barf...barf..barf...sure doesn't do it for me!!!

I don't care for smokers rights, or non-smokers rights, as far as I'm concerned, there is a good balance right now, with the way it is.

One extreme or the other, is usually too far either way!!

On a last note, if you smoke, that's your problem, I just prefer to get my cancer another way!!

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I dont smoke, but I let a drunk friend smoke once and the cig butt ended up in my back seat. It burned off the fuzzy hairs off the seat and left a dark mark on the fabric about the size of a dime. NEVER AGAIN WILL ANYONE SMOKE IN MY CAR!

Re: Do you smoke in your ThirdGen?

I smoke in my car everyday. For you smokers out there a pack of cigs fits perfectly in between the e-brake and the console. As far as smell, put a can of febreze in your car like me. And for everybody who complains about smokers breath, why would you be with someone who does not brush their teeth??? Try to tell me not to smoke in my car, better hope i am not in front of you with the t-tops off cigs on the side of the road are there for the convicts to pick up and they are biodegradable stop complaining grow some chestnuts. As for second hand smoke if you dont like it you should take your headers off cuz you putting exhaust fumes in my lungs punkass. Better not stand behind my car when i am lightin the tires you just might die dont be a pantywaist.
