center console question

Will a regular center console (82-92 camaro and early firebird) be a direct swap with the radio pod and center console?

Re: center console question

That center console looks like it came out of Camaro. Yes, it would be an issue as the Camaro and Firebird dashes are very differently designed. The Firebird has the radio pod attached to the dash only in a pod w/ the HVAC system. The Camaro one has it attached to the center console, like it the picture you posted.

Yes. The older 'birds had the "Camaro" dash, not a separate design.

You could swap the entire dash & console, but not the "Camaro" console & the (newer) Firebird dash.

The 82-84 Firebird consoles are look similar to the Camaro consoles but they are completely different.

I'll just go with the 4th gen console then.

Re: center console question

Why close the thread? Seems kind of selfish.

You deleted your original question (that readers won't know now) and the answers seemed helpful.

Why take this information away from other members....especially ones that actually search for information???

Maybe we better clear this up a little. An early (82-84) Firebird console will work in your '86. The other person wanted to to put a Camaro center console in his car and that won't work. However, you should be able to put the console you bought into your car with no problems.
