4th gen console install advice? - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

im installing a 4th gen console in my 88. i have the console part installed, just put the 2 screws in the back on and it fits right into place. but i'm TOTALLLY stumped on how to mount a radio/ac pod! i got the pod from a 3rd gen firebird that i hear people say bolts in with no modifications, which isn't true. when i try to put the firebird radio pod in, its too big and won't fit. it can't fit between the dash and the top of the new console. so i have no idea what im going to do. i may have to scrap the firbird pod idea.

but i was thinking to put the firebird pod next to the old console and cut out a portion of it so its the same shape as the orignal, but then i'm not sure how to mount it. can i run self tapping screws into the plastic? should i somehow put a bracket on the new one (like the original) that screws into the bottom of the dash? and then put it in so that the console supports the bottom of the pod?

is there any better way? has anybody successfully put this firebird pod in? what did you have to do?

any help or advice you can give is greatly apprciated! i need HELP!

Try putting the pod in before you put the console in. I have a 4th gen console in my formula, but it came with the pod. Best of luck to ya.

Check out hawks , I VAGUELY remember someone saying something about a 3rd gen firebird radio pod that he sells that fits snugly between the thirdgen dash and 4th gen console.
