92 cluster in an 87

i want to put the 145mph speedo of of a 92 z28 in my 87 z28. what do i have to do.

The 92 won't fit the 87 without major modification to the dash. Furthermore, the 92 speedo is electric, the 87 cable driven. The swap can be done with some headaches, but it might be more worthwhile to simply swap in a cable-driven 145.

Yes, that is not an easy swap. The easiest way to do it would be to change out the entire dash. Also, James C is right, you would have to convert your car from a mechanical speedo to an electronic one.

i thought the dashes weere the same in all f bodies also mines shot and i like the 92 style so id definitly like to do it once i finish my motor swap

Don't do it uness you want to have tons of electrical headaches and spend a lot of time doing the swap. Like Thirdgen Ranches Denny said...swap in a 145 designed for the car's correct year. That would take about an hour at most to do.
