im trying to replace the door weather stripping on tmy 92 firebird, i can figure out how to take the coverplate off the door handle/lock area. It seems like there is a plug behind the door handle that is covering a screw, and the little square plate with the firebird on it seems to be covering one as well. How do you remove them? i dont want to break them or mar them all up and i having no luck. Am i missing something here? Its so much easier on the 86.

It's a real pain to get them off. There's one screw behind the square firebird thingy and one behind the black plug. You need to find something thin, blunt, and not metal. For the plug you just have to kinda pry it off. For the square bird you have to pry it out from the top. If you end up marring them 3rd gen ranch has them cheap.

thanks, thats kinda what i figured, i was soo pissed off, i just ripped the old weatherstrip ends to pieces and put the new one one temporarily, i couldnt get to the top screw by the mirror. If i feel motivated i will have to try again. The panels are in such good condition i dont want to ruin them.
