T-Top cloth/fabric panel inserts

Does anyone have these cloth/fabric inserts that fit underneath the T-tops just above the t-top framing of the car? I do, and how rare is this?

Re: T-Top cloth/fabric panel inserts

Are you talking about a piece of headliner trim? I don't have a clue exactly what it is you're talking about. I don't think a piece of cloth from around the T-tops would be rare, there's a lot of reproduction and used originals available for the Third Gens. Any pictures though? This sort of confuses me.

Re: T-Top cloth/fabric panel inserts

sounds like you are referring to the sunshades possibly? Are they like hard cardboard with headliner material on them? my 92 came with some, not sure if they came with all t-top cars new or if it was an option, I've seen alot of 4th gens with them from the factory too. you can get a set of them new from hawks for $75

t-top shades do discribe them the best. But they are HIGH quality, so much more then anything I have seen on the net, thats why I beieve it can with the from factory or as a option upgrade from factory.....Now I know what they are, how rare are they for 3rd Gens??? I'm also the 3rd owner of this car, so i don't know its history!

Re: T-Top cloth/fabric panel inserts

I have them for my beechwood interior. This is the first time I've heard of anyone else having the factory ones. Fortunately, I rarely used them when the car was my daily driver, so they are in very good condition. I would suspect originals without creases or rips are very rare since they seem like they would crease or tear easily.

That's not a bad idea. I'm right in central Texas between Austin & Houston, and Dallas & San Antonio.

Thats awesome. A few days after the 2nd owner dropped off the car to me, he came by after to give me this box, which he had the just found in his garage, inside were the shades. No creases or rips, honestly looked like they never been used before.

I bought the car 10 yrs ago so I can't remember 100% if he(2nd owner) said that it came with the car when he bought it from the 1st owner. I would like too believe that they are original from fact/dealer. They are in a box that fits them just perfect with the GM logo printed on the box.

Re: T-Top cloth/fabric panel inserts

I have some of these also. Not sure if the factory produced them or not. Camaros are not usually heard of having them during the 3rd gen years. The Firebirds have been known to come with some. Again, not sure if they were a dealer item or factory. CoverCraft used to make them using the factory headliner material. I contacted them years ago to see about having them mass produced again. They were not interested. I actually have these in the back of my truck today because I'm going to see a custom interior shop to have them recovered. Like the headliner, the foam deteriorates. The ones I have are all new in the box, but deteriorated. I currently have 6 of these that will be recovered if the price is good.

Re: T-Top cloth/fabric panel inserts

I have them for my 84 TA. They are out being rolled and pleated to match the rest of the interior. They are great in the winter(when I lived up north), keeps the cold out. In the hot summer keeps car much cooler. I just pop them in the t-top bag when not in use.

Yea, Florida does have it's benefits. I spent about 4 years in clearwater myself. I had to drive my IROC a short distance a couple of times, and spun spun spun! I suppose I could have used snows on it, but....... I just drive a winter beater around here. Michigan has a love affair with salt.

This is graet! Scottmoyer thankx for the info. This is exactly what I was hoping for, info on something that meny of us may not know about, have, or even care about... Now all we need is to know where the shades come from, Dealer or factory option???? I've got a feeling its the dealer-(paid for option), GM doesn't like to give out freebies.....

When I bought my Iroc new in 85 they were an dealer option. They were packed in a GM box but came from Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories. They matched the interior OEM colors perfectly.
