Question on firebird interior

The Previous Owner switched the camaro interior to firebird interior and I know nothing about their interior. Now, it is a 5 speed and the shift plate is COMPLETELY destroyed. I was wondering if maybe I could buy and automatie shift plate and use it instead? Will I need to modify it?

It won't be perfect, but I believe you could make it work. Here is a picture of an automatic shift plate:



And here is the manual shift plate:



If you cut out the shift indicator region, you're left with almost the same size and location as the square hole in the manual shift plate. It looks like the manual shifter opening goes slightly futher forward, so you may have to cut the automatic shifter hole a little larger in the front to match. The other difference will be that you don't have the ledge that's like 3/8" deep going all the way around and you have to fabricate some kind of mount for the shifter boot.
