I was wondering if anyone has ever done, or heard of, applying some sort of protective layer over the t-top material? Not the colored fabric that is seen, but rather, the yellow underside.
I'm finishing up a 100% interior restoration and would like to do preventative maintenance in case of future t-top leaks.

a lot of people when restoring the fiberboard headliners use fiberglass to make it a bit stronger. This would also be a decent choice for waterproofing if your headliner is in good shape. However, if you still have the cloth on it (the part that shows), you may end up getting resin soaking through and ruining the appearance.
may be able to try beadliner as well, but kinda think that may soak through as well.

I just did my ttop headliner this week. When I removed it, it ended up in three pieces! I have the overhead console so there is not much material to work with because of the cutouts. I was able to piece it back together with 5 min epoxy and then laid glass and resin across all of the weak spots. When I finished that, I decided to put resin on the entire surface of the inside (where the water would land on it). Also stiffened up the whole thing a bit. I didn't bother coating the underside though.
Overall it turned out nice. Still need to install it but I want to check the hatch bolts while it's still out as I think one of them might be leaking.

Yeah I took a bunch while I was doing the resin work. I didn't take any during the headliner material installation (another story in itself). I'll upload them tonight and put a link up for you.

Wow what a pain! I haven't edited anything on my site for about four years. Finally decided to start using it again. Forgot how long it takes to make a page with some photos and info. Anyway here is my page on the headliner work:
