ABS Headliner Question?

Hey There,

By any Chance what does ABS mean?

Is there a company that makes plastic headliners for our cars? And I mean plastic like the plastic trims in the car itself? Just wondering and if there is can I get some pics or info on this please?

Thanks. Tony.

Re: ABS Headliner Question?

The one I put in (ordered by the owner) came with the upholstery, a can of adhesive, and the ABS headliner---went together and installed very easily. I guess you could just scuff and shoot the ABS panel and not bother with the upholstery if you wanted to.....?????

So your telling me that the headliner that you could order aftermarket come in plastic? Cause I dont want that cheap foam board that these cars come with stock they break to easy. Cause if it does come in PLASTIC that the color is black I would rather leave it as is since I like how we have black panels.

Thanks. Tony.

Re: ABS Headliner Question?

Don't know where you're buying it, but if the ad sez it's ABS, then it's the good plastic and not the factory stuff.... Check with the company selling it for sure...

Re: ABS Headliner Question?

The ABS was introduced to the headliner market to solve the deterioration issue of the OEM pressed board ones that came in many vehicles.

The ABS plastic will not break down if it get wet, like the pressed board ones do over time.

We carry them, if you'd like a price quote shoot me a PM.

Re: ABS Headliner Question?

From my understanding they are plastic but you still need to recover them with your color of material. I dont think they come in colors ready to install. I may be wrong though.

You can order them already covered ready to install. Most of the customers order them that way.

Re: ABS Headliner Question?

What I think he was saying is the ABS plastic comes in a black color from where he is looking. I would recommend covering it anyway though, even if it is black as the fabric looks much better than the plastic...not that the plastic looks bad, but when you cut out holes for sunvisors, dome lights, etc. it might not look as good as with fabric wrapped around the edges.

Re: ABS Headliner Question?

I couldnt agree more. They look better with the fabric on them.

Well on my car I dont use the sun visors, so that wont be a problem but I thought they come with the rest of the cutouts?

Tony.

Re: ABS Headliner Question?

I agree ABS is awesome I just put it in my 90 and covered it in Black Denim and it looks great with my custom black interior. My plastic came grey I bought it from Classic Industries and it fits perfect.
