How to disconect the cable behind the odometer?

the front panel on my 89 iroc, behind the gauges has a cable that I cant take off, how do i take it off. I started with changing the steering column and now i said hell with it my gauges have been tripn out so i started taking them apart. i got to the part where there is a cable behind the odometer anyone know how to disconnect?

The speedometer cable is held on by a clip.To detach it you must press it inward toward the cluster and it should release the cable.Somtimes it can be tricky.I usually use my finger to pop the clip but other use a flat bladed screwdriver.Hope this helps you out

Sometimes you also have to push the cable towards the cluster as you push the retaining clip before it will release the cable. The retaining clip is on the cluster itself.
