1987 trans am hatch latch help

i have a 1987 trans am i just bought it dose not have a hatch latch and im wondering if its the pull down motor type. now i though all 87's had the pull down motor type now i look at the wiring for it and it dose not have the wiring for it what do i do? also I'm not sure if the brackets are different for the non pull down motors or not witch iv heard they are, and if they are mine is the bracket for the pull down motor type

Yes, your '87 is supposed to have a hatch motor. The body brackets are different so you can't put a normal latch on it without welding in different brackets. The hatch motor wiring is part of the tail light harness so you can always get a new harness with the hatch motor wiring. However, it seems wierd that somebody would take out the wiring. (It wouldn't make much sense.) Are you should it's not just tucked behind one of the interior panels?

Yes im pretty sure but ill make 100% sure. but the 3 rear most panels are ripped out and i look for about an hour and did not find a thing. so much for your help. EDIT: yes i just look and there is no sign of the wiring being there what would you suggest to be the easiest way to fix this?
