Door Armrest Rollcage Clearance

I have a 86 Firebird with a 8 point cage. The Door Armrests wont clear the cage that I had installed. Does anyone know of a way around this? Custom Armrests? Anyone with pictures that they could post would be great. Thanks

i don't think the underpants gnomes can help with this one lol

just take out the armrests. its the price of having a cage, i guess.

Re: Door Armrest Rollcage Clearance

i was being serious. just take out the armrests. the only other options are to somehow mod them so they'll fit, or make custom ones. the choice is yours...

Re: Door Armrest Rollcage Clearance

I put an 8 point in myself in an 88, it cleared both the seats and armrests with straight bars, no bends or silly stuff like that. I suppose whoever put in your cage didn't measure well enough or try to clear them, because it CAN be done.

If it doesn't clear, simply take them off and use the bar for an armrest

Re: Door Armrest Rollcage Clearance

Your straight bars clear... No hitting of the seats or arm rests at all???

Is your car auto or manual..and where does the door bar meet with the floor.

The only way I can picture a straight bar working with that much clearance is if it were attached closer to the pedals. Which wouldnt work for a guy like me with a 6spd and size 13 shoes.

Got a pic?

Re: Door Armrest Rollcage Clearance

I have a 6 speed as well. I also have size 16 feet, and I never find myself hitting the bar with my foot. The tube is planted on a steel square plate tucked up as far to the front of the car as you can go without running into the slope, and as far to the side of the car as you can go. I don't know about pictures, but I'll see what I can do.

If you want yours to clear, simply cut the bar out and re-weld it in if that's very important to you, because it can be done
