Well. As much as I love my car, the all red color scheme was a bit...80's, to say the least haha.
I've been doing interior reconditioning for a few years now, so I decided to dye my interior a different color.
I drive a white '91, black wheels. I dyed my seats and all my plastic trim black, and left the carpeting red. Personally, though I may be biased, I think it looks great haha.
Let me know what you guys think

I used SEM colorcoat on pretty much everything. I'll take some better pictures during the day tomorrow, but I'm really pleased with how it came out. All overspray has since been removed.
Total cost was right around $50 and a few hours.

I like it. Especially the red seat belts with the black seats. But get a cheap steering wheel cover to keep that mess out of sight until you can fix/replace the wheel!
Haha, yea the steering wheel is in dire need of being replaced or re-wrapped. It's actually not in terrible condition, I just keep the tape there for when I autocross, actually. It allows me to know the exact position of the wheel while I'm concentrating on the course.
I painted my 90 rs exterior red w/black stripes a few years back and always wanted the interior to match. Like u All red was a little much. Dont have any pics right now, but I painted the red carpet on the console black. I also painted all the rear interior panels black and the rear carpet. I also left the front carpet red. The sail panels are black. All I have left is to get both sill plates paint them black and install. Also going to get Rustoleum metallic chrome paint and paint the IC bezel.

Yea, I did allllll of the interior panels black, all the way back into the trunk. Couldn't get decent pictures since it was dark.
I've been seeing more and more of these and here in 2 weeks when I get home from school for the weekend I plan on tackling this, any general tips other than clean really well?

Make sure you clean very well, preferably with some type of interior degreaser/plastic-vinyl cleaner.
The biggest thing is very VERY light coats. If you spray it on too heavy it will puddle.
I did about 4 coats to get full coverage. The heavier each coat is, the easier it will be to damage it before the dye soaks in.
edit - and I think the red leather interior is ugly haha
SEM colorcoat. It's actually the only thing I've ever used to recondition/color change an interior, between the 3 places I've worked.
So is this dye a general purpose dye or is it classified as "vinyl dye"? I use VHT Vinyl dye on my dashpad and armrests with good results. Getting ready to do the door panels. Can that stuff also be used for the ABS plastic panels?

It's kind of a multipurpose vinyl/plastic dye. I used it on my plastic panels, obviously used it on the seats. Works on just about anything that's plastic.
Same company also makes carpet dyes which are excellent for bringing back some color to the carpet.
