I had originally planned to buy all new carpet to restore my interior with, but my current budget and repair list prohibits that. I am beginning to contemplate restoring the existing carpet. Overall, It's not in that bad of shape. There are no wear reas It's just faded from over the years. However, here are the challenges I face: - There is significant mildew present from the leaking T-Tops. - On the passenger area of the transmission hump towards the front of the car, there is a 4 inch line where the fibers have worn out. It's not a tear, just a bald line. - On the area behind the passenger seat, there is a 1 foot incision made in the carpet. This was done by yours truly to inspect the condition of the floorboards when I thought I was going to buy brand new carpet. It is a clean cut made by a razor blade and could probably be easily sewn up. Believe me, I am SERIOUSLY regretting this now. - There are various rust/grease/god knows what stains from the years of use. I Don't want to hear any DIY cheapo here is an alternative to restoring the carpet solutions. I just want to know what you guys think, and how it can be done iof at all. My dad is experienced with upholstery from his time in the navy that might be useful.

personally i would just get new carpet, it should be under 200, cause lets face it, its almost impossible to get all the stains, and smells outta 20 yearl old carpet

I didn't replace my carpet when I had the car upholstered (and probably should have); however, with the seats removed, I had a professional carpet cleaner drop by and give the carpet a thorough deep clean. The $20 cost was well worth the choice.

see if you can get a professional to drop by. They have the chemicals and the knowledge to do the job properly. It did wonders for my computer room

I got a 90 with red interior, I bought a spot bot (bissel) hand held carpet shampoo machine. It costs $150.00 bucks. I did my seats, carpet and door panels. They look AMAZING! people think that I bought a whole new interior! there was a huge black stain under the drivers seat that came out like brand new! the best part about everything was when I finished the entire job, I lent the machine to a friend and he told me that it wasn't sucking up water and was leaking! I got it back and thought that was so odd because it worked great just days before. I looked online and found that many people had the same problem with the machine so I took it back to Target and got my money back. So if you feel like doing the work it really comes out great, was worth the time and effort. In the end all I paid for was the solution. 20 bucks.
