Prepare me please!?!?!?!

I have ordered the replacement carpet for my car passenger and cargo. How much of a PITA is it gonna be to install? I have already removed the seats to get the old carpet out I still have to remove the center counsel and seat belts to get the old carpet out. I was also advised to spray rubberized undercoating on the floor before laying the carpet, is this a good idea? One more thing is after a long dispute with the seat company and dealing with lost shipments and back orders I have decided to recover my factory seats, and I would also know how difficult that task is? Before I recover them I would like to clean them. Would it be better to use a shampooer before I remove the old seat covers or should I take off the cover and shampoo the foam? thanks for any help

I recovered the seats in my 1987 Camaro, I purchased them from the link below. http://desertsunauto.com/. You have to become familiar with the use of Hog rings and hog ring pliers. If you do it add some extra padding, you can get the batting from Walmart. As far as under my carpet I used padding for house carpeting, it also helps with road noise.

Re: Prepare me please!?!?!?!

The carpet shouldn't be to bad. If you have a heated garage or a way to warm the carpet up it will help it to conform to the floor pan easier.

Recovering the seats isn't to bad if you take your time. You basically have to break them down and take off any hardware, then there are hog rings and metal bars in the seat foam that the hog rings clip to.

Remove all of the hog rings and peel the cover off as you go. We have upholstery kits complete with hog rings and pliers. Here's a link to them on our site. Not sure if you have a TA or Camaro.

Honestly the carpet install is pretty simple. I did mine in a day on my old car.

Re: Prepare me please!?!?!?!

not sure why anyone would advise you to use rubberized undercoating on you floor boards under the carpet? if it is for water protection it wont help and if it is for sound deadening there are much better alternatives.
