A perfect bolt-in solution for more headroom!

I'm glad some of you havent had head room issues, but I'm not sure why you're in here then. This thread is pretty much only for people that need more headroom and not for people to brag about how they are fine in the headroom department. thanks.

Over the weekend I put a seat track from a Pontiac Fiero on my drivers seat. It doesn't allow any more rearward adjustability, and you lose your lumbar adjustment, but it lowers the seat about an inch closer to the floor. MAN what a difference it makes!! I got mine from www.thefierofactory.com for about $25. It bolted right to the seat, and then right to the car with no mods/grinding/nothing needed. Best $25 I've spent! WAY worth it.

You can compare the two seats and see the driver side sits lower. From what I've seen, you CAN do the passnger side, but it takes a little bit of massaging. Exactly what is needed, I don't know since I didnt do the passenger side.

I'm 6' 5" and never had a head clearance problem in any of my hardtop 3rd gens.

But after putting in 4th gen seats (DIRECT bolt in), they sit an inch or two lower, way more comfortable & well worth the cost of buying them. Simple cloth seats, no leather, power or lumbar crap here. I haven't had any desire to adjust them since day 1 (of having them) so I've had NO need for power seats anyways.

I like to sit with my seat straight up and it felt cramped. The Fiero seat track makes my interior feel like a new car, and I no longer hit the roof with a helmet on now. I know one pretty tall guy that has head room problems in his convertible and one guy that does road racing that has to sit in an unnatural position so his helmet wont hit the ceiling....hopefully this will help them.

This is definitely good to know for someone needing just a little bit extra easily...easily being the key there. Sure you can cut/drop/weld things to lower it, but a simple bolt in for an inch or so is awesome.

I was sharing my info, to point out that 4th seat swaps not only are a much more comfortable seat, but sit lower, providing headroom as well.

I've got 5" on you, but only 10 lbs heavier....
When my GTA was sitting on stock springs, the roof basically was level with the middle of my abdomen, just above my belly button. Now it's about 2" lower, on the weight jacks.

Yes, getting in the car is like me folding in half.

Re: A perfect bolt-in solution for more headroom!

I've never been worried bout head room in my 92. I'm 6'6" and installed dodge stealth seats and raised the front of the seats 2 inches. It helps that I have no back seat and have the back reclined alot. Feels perfect for me. And to install the seats, I just took a peice of uni-strut, drilled holes to mount it to the old mounting bolts and the used spring nuts to bolt down new seats. Wanted stealth seats cuz they were 6 way manuals with decent side bolstering and not broken like my originals

Something similar was available in thirdgens. My L/S Conteur seats are equipped with mechanical thigh, seat, lumbar, and seat back adjusts--as well as sitting on a six-way electrical track. Sorry, .

The Camaro only has a single mechanical lever which controls the front-to-back movement.
