Very nice car! Just keep in mind that a cage like that is not legal because it does not have a center bar welded in place. Not sure if you are looking for a bar for the street or if you take it to teh track often.

Matt, you the man. Thanks. Can you still fit in the back seats?. I always assumed you stripped the car out when you started going faster. Forgot you kept full interior.
i can't get anywhere near that back seat, i'm nearly 300lbs. my little bro is about 140ish though, i might be able to fold him in there. i wouldn't want anyone riding back there though, it's a death trap...concussion waiting to happen, lol! i have them there for the cool factor. this year i'm looking for ever little bit of performance though, so i may pull them out.

I was looking into doing one full interior but i decided against it becasue you cant use the back seats. I may do one just for protection on the street and my car doesnt run fast enough for a cage on the track so some saftey will help

A cage in a street car is a waste of money and can kill you.Think if your in a wreck and hit your head on one of the bars its gonna hurt bad maybe kill you.If you want to stiffen up the car double sub frame connectors work wonders and some home made bracing too.

Some people REQUIRER a cage in their street cars because of ET's
I agree , putting someone in the back seats is a "STUPID" idea.
nope, not at all...just took balls to cut up a good lookin' set of seats
my car will NEED the roll bar, and it's not a daily driver, so i'm not worried about "street safety" all that much.

with my harness on there's no way my head could contact the main hoop even if I got into an accident on the street, plus I have the entire cage padded regardless.

they make my style of roll bar with a removable crossbar as well.....it's held in place with pins. Just remove the pins when you want to remove the cross bar.

too bad a removable crossbar is not accepted in ANY sanctioning body...
but your car is a show car, you don't use it in competition of any sorts....

Matt, you the man. Thanks. Can you still fit in the back seats?. I always assumed you stripped the car out when you started going faster. Forgot you kept full interior.
these cage threads always turn into "can you still fit in the back"
if you have to ask that, you dont need a bar in your car.
very true. mine are back there for novelty only. i'll likely take them out for the track this year.
heck no. leave um in!
i had to order some material from kirkey, then get my backs covered to match the fronts.
went a couple of months without a backseat, it was driving me nuts.
unless you run a steel piece of plate across the floor then carpet it, it just doesnt look right.
neither do the "rear seat deletes" that have been massed produced, or even custom units.
i removed every bit of frame from the backseat, and had the foam covered.
the backrest is held in by 2 heavy duty strips of velcro.
youd never know.
total rear seat was 27 pounds. the backrest is 4, and each rear bottom is 5 each now.
I have to get my side bars installed. this shot is before i was done with the new seats.. my back seat is still in just folded down. the back bar keeps it from folding up...
who makes a set of side bar's that will clear the Door handles and still let a 6'4" 300lb Guy sit Cuffy.. cuss i dont see any arm rest in that photo 66nova : )

im guessing you have strait down bars off the main hoop instead of a curved bar to clear the backrest?
in all seriousness, i would find a chassis guy or at least someone that knows how to use a bender and a welder and have the door bars custom made.

it may even be cheaper and have better fitment.
Nope: Fit is fantastic.
just never picked up any side bars.
my main Hoop is part of the SFC. that run all the way under the car. nexed to the GFX.
on the outside. the side bars will be part of the SFC also..
welded plates and bolts. as pr NHRA.

confused?
if the fit is fantaastic, then why is the seat stuck folded down.
a pic would help.
IM 6'4" The back bar runs out just enof to hold them down..
the way the back bar runs. it's sorta bends to the back on ea side.before running to the other side...i left the back seats in..as i make enof HP to over come 18lbs
you can see how it just sits in this photo. the thin yellow on the padding at the back of ea seat. with padding.. holds it rear seat down. this was before the new seats and the last of the fitting/welding.
side bars are nexed.. all this bar is welded to SFC under car. and into the hvy body pan parts.
the back bar sorta cups the back of the seats. I dont want a side bar pushing on my side or banging on my leg. it's all about Fit. in this photo. the seats are at full back setting.. fits me 6'4"

NOT YET.. But will be when done..aka add side bars.
this post is not about NHRA/IHRA or any other Rules.
My car Is not a race car.. just your 10.34 sec street car. with the old 383. and this set up.. now with the 427 w/procharger 12psi and a bit of NOS.it's still just going to be a street car. thats 100% cumfy to drive..
this can always be upgraded if need be.. 2 side bars.heck just 1 side bar is ok.. thats all to be Legit. thats nothing. but till then it's just a street car.

that whole car scares the crap out of me. 10.3x's with a bolt-in trampoline frame style roll bar, and no firewall between the fuel cell and you. alot can happen in 10 1/2 seconds man, street car or not...i have a family and want to be able to be there for them, even if i do have a mishap.

ya the fuel cell is going under the Hood. unless i get a box made to seal the cell off from the rest of the inside..have to move the fuel pump and filter.
the car needs more room at the back now. (under). the wheels are going to be coming up more with the new combo... with the 383 it was getting close to draging.. the fuel filter/pump..way to close...a few times.at the track. guys would say they touched the ground..but i dont see any marks...the wheels only come up off the ground 6" to 8".
for about 10 to 15 feet. Not much to say when you see the Guys almost standing on the Bumpers.
but then this is only a Street car..My GF even drove(stole) this car to get her nails done when i was late getting home from work...by (7 min).. why is the shop empty..and whos driving my car?
and..the rollbar is welded to the frame and the pan..not just welded to the flexOlite body..like some..and it dont use the TQ Arm any more.. it's more of a laderbar set up with a better frame.
to keep the body from ripping apart..this roll bar is part for the frame.and will be added to.(if they make me)
this car was doing low 10's in the 90's will be a bit faster when it comes out this nexed summer. would like to have it run 10's like it ran 11's. (just point..and press the gas)
took out the power seats
adding
dart block 427 sbc (paid for)
procharger (paid for)
Tube K member (paid for)
Tube A arms. (paid for)
Coil overs.( paid for)
Side bars (weld in) looking for weld in bars that fit..thank you
and going with the fuel cell under the Hood.(bat spot)
for safty..and i need the room at the back..lol
most of use guys dont install a 9sec cage in a 12 sec car.
we add things to the car as it gets faster.
at this point i have to add side bars.

if you buy door bars that "fit," chances are they are not going to be comfortable like you would want them.
that fuel pump setup is pretty dang low.
ive got mine tucked in the front mounted to the front frame horn.

ya they sit sorta low. this shot of my car.shows how it sits. on take off. the front end moves 2"/3" up and the tires clear.the ground.. the car lift up about 12" total hangen the wheels about 6" to 8" off the ground. and it's getting close. this winters upgrades ill be moving things. as im putting more power to it.
Sickness91Z28
good looking car. you can always add a back bar...or side bars..
whats nice is having a good looking car thats fast.. and not a slow car with fast car looks..thats just sucks!
most of us guys who start running in the 10's have to add bars to the cars..to pass tech..the Key. is add.
and thats when you Have to.. some guys run in the 10's and are told to slow down or they cant race..good old boy tracks..(like mine).
im into the "Dragcar"/show car. (not a race car)
looks fast is fast! thats when you have fun....your car looks like fun!
and must be a blast to drive on friday /sat nights.
thats when i have the most Fun.

If your car is fast enough to need a cage you won't be driving it everyday.
All these 600+ hp cars are NOT daily drivers. BUT people do like to still put a few miles a week on them. Nothing stopping people from driving a few hundred miles a week. Take them on 1000+ mile power tour or drag week challenges once a year etc....
Can anyone tell me why people run the back stays like this? This offers NO structural rigidity to the car, and if you get rear ended, you're going to get a main hoop right in the back of the head. The rear well area is a crumple zone. Put the back stays where they belong, right on the rear shock mounts. Why guys run back stays clear to the tail lights I'll never know. The next silliest thing I see is guys that mount the back stays to the wheel house. (like arcticwhiteZ did) That offers no structural rigidity either but at least its safer if you get hit in the rear..
unlike most.
mine is to keep the back clear..it's a street car.. and keeps me from getting crushed when the SUV rear ends me. has the young driver will be talking on there cell phone..and not See my car stopped at a red light...
tell me this will never happen on the street.
structural rigidity: LETS LOOK AT THIS
mine is also part of my sub frame. that runs up from the lower Frame thats in my car now.. see
my Camaro. is not Like yours or any on this site. unlessyouhave 3"x 4" Tubing welded in the the bodylip runningfronttoback on both sides. and into the body hard points into the wheel wells/AKA "wheel house"now part of the shock towers . & cross members running from left to right under the car and running under the drive line also.. and is also part of the roll bar welded together. this is like 120lbs of steel into just the frame before the moly bars. and then. the Rear End is also bolted up to the frame and cross members under the car.GOT RID of that silly TQ arm.and install a 9"(My car makes the HP to move all the steel.).structural rigidity is more than what you see inside a car.. it's whats under your car and whats inside your car. as ONE part. that makes structural rigidity. not just welding in Vet parts. and a 4 point.
silly?...no. car plants the tires.. lifts the front off the ground and runs 130 in the 1/4. but it's only a street car ON pump gas. not a race car. i think out side the box. AND instald one in my carmaro.
Remember: saying somthing about someones car. you know nothing about. could make YOU out to be SILLY
when its a race car.. it will be a bit faster. and have a few more silly bars in it : ) AND The HP to move it.. it's the U.S. Marine way..
