Ok, I needed to buy a new speedometer and found one on Ebay that was stated as NOS (new old stock). Now the rest of the description was kind of a trip since I don't recall a pre-1991 B4C Camaro especially since the guages changed in 1990. Here is the description and pic:
"YOU ARE BIDDING ON A GENIUNE GM PART # 25084346. THIS IS A POLICE CAR SPECIAL 145 MPH SPEEDOMETER THAT IS BRAND NEW IN THE BOX. IT FITS ALL 82-89 CAMAROS. THERE IS A REASONABLE STARTING BID AND NO RESERVE! INSURED SHIPPING IS $15 & WE ACCEPT CHECKS, MO'S & CREDIT CARDS. EMAIL WITH ANY QUESTIONS."

The 145, IIRC, started in 86, so this piece, aside from its being NOS, isn't anything particularly special. BTW, it appears to be missing the blue high beam plastic.

I bought a NOS Tachometer last year, wife installed it for me while I was away. Works pretty nice...

Yea I kindda figured it would just be a standard unit. No big deal, at least (hopefully) it is NOS and my trip will work and not have to use a repair technique for the broken j clips. I'll re use my blue high beam from teh existing one in my car.
Late 86 apparently and many 305's were equipped with them.
What a wife, Tobias! Shoot, mine hasn't washed a car in our 40 years together (she'd say I've never washed clothes or cleaned the toilet. Can't argue, darnit!).

The 145 speedo went into production in mid-model year '86. Also, the original replacements (like above) did not come with the blue lens for some reason.
Does this nos speedometer come with the speed sensor wiring? My 89 camaro has the 115 mph speedometer and the behind it has wiring with a yellow box behind it that connects to the tach. Hopefully you can shed some light on my question before i purchase that nos part.
That sounds like the driven gear in your tranny are not correct. Did you change rear-end gears?

Check the T-5 sticky for the correct drive/driven gears. BTW, if you're not running stock-sized tires/wheels, the speedo wont read correctly.

I just took my speedometer off the car and it has the red driven gear which is the 9 tooth. The drive gear is the 22 tooth, and I am running the stock 26 in tires on my stock 15 in irocs.
IIRC,before the 145 speedo made it to production cars,
GM had a 145 speedo avalible from dealer parts
"for off road use only"(LOL)that had a single ended
needle in the tapered '82-84 style and the speedo had
a z28 logo on the face-one of those would be cool to find

I have that speedo in my 89 RS. I bought the whole gauge cluster from another Cascade Crew member here in Washington. The numbers go up to 140MPH, the odometer and trip meters are in different spots, and there is no KMH scale.
My speedo is dead, so im going to look for a new one that reads the 140, my 87 firebird has a dead stock 90mph. Any tips I should know to make sure it fits/ reads correctly for my car.
Ok i put the speedometer on yesterday, and it works great! The only thing wrong is that it reads 10 mph faster, is there any way to fix that?
Is it 10mph off across the board? If so you need to pull the needle off the front and put it back on in the right position, it can be tricky though to get it right, just keep trying.
