RPM Tach Places

My buddy is going to let me buy his, and its kind of one of those big round rpm tachs, but i'm looking not to destroy my dash pad or anything. I'm trying to still keep the interior clean looking yet having that sporty racer edge look. I'm thinking of having a clip go from the under screws that hold the dash pad on then bend the metal to u-clip around the dash and have the gauge sit on the dash...

just curious if other people want to post images of their gauges or tachs and where they are positioned and bolted..

Re: RPM Tach Places

I've seen quite a few people mount them to the dash under the center vents on Camaros. I always though they looked pretty good there.

Under the 2 center vents on the dash is where I have mine. You will not be able to see the mounting holes if you decide to remove it.my VB garage shows my old temporary cheap tach there.I now have an autometer with shift light.

Re: RPM Tach Places

i did not want to cut or drill any holes in my dash, at all.
so i used the factry screws and holes to hold my tach and Guages

the tach strap runs from the window vent screw. to the front of the Dash. wraping under and bolted in with the factry screw under the front of the Dash.. Rock solid Mt.. no slop or wigle.
if you go this way..make sure you make the stap so it just adds a bit of presher on the top of the dash pad close to window, not much just a bit.
look close at my photos.. just a tad bit of down force.
OR you can take it one step more. and add a 1/2" wide arm to the front half that. runs into the 2 vent screws up close to the window.

Like to keep the tach up eye level, you dont have to look down to see it.

you could remove every guage from My car. and there would not be one hole there, that GM did not Put there..

thats 7 close to 8 years of Dust on the windows and dash... been sitting..
