the black leather stock bucket seats from a 72 plymouth roadrunner,
not the bench seats.
will they fit in my 1992 RS camaro?
if so what do I need? and has anybody else used them?
almost any seat will fit in your car. What you need to do is see if you can put the 3rd gen seat brackets on the Roadrunner seats. If you can accomplish that, then you should be able to bolt them up to your car...
Mods so far: MSD Cap and rotor, MSD ignition coil, Accel 8.8mm ignition wires, Hooker Super Comp Shortie Headers, Flowmaster 3in catback, underdrive crank pulley, custom cold air intake, NOS wet 125 shot, air foil and a lead foot! no E/T's yet. ...TURBO COMING SOON...Other mods include keyless entry and remote start, and Sequential Turn Signals.
And there is always the option of custom making seat mounts, and/or redrilling holes in the existing brackets, to put on an "adapter" bracket, which is done all the time.
If they're like the high back leather buckets I had in my '72 Charger (and they probably are), then I think they'll sit a bit too high in a Thirdgen...I'd just sit them inside w/o the brackets to see what it looks like...
Well I'm 16 and on the short side, i'm 5"4 so sitting high
isn't really a problem for me, I wanted higher seats anyway.
Another question, how hard are these seats to find?
I want them but if it's going to cost too much I can just buy
a pair of custom seats.
Buddy if those seats are in good shape you could probably buy 2 sets of Third/4thgen leather seats for what those are worth. Besides those old school seats feel like an old couch with a spring matress.
Mopar parts are rare sell those and make some cash to get the proper seats.
edit: wait you don't even own a set of these road runner seats?
yeah, if you don't already have those seats, then you're gonna have to shell out $$ to get a decent set...and like stated, they probably aren't comfortable (compared to newer racing seats)... good luck...

Almost any seat will fit in your car. What you need to do is see if you can put the 4th gen seat brackets on the Roadrunner seats. If you can accomplish that, then you should be able to bolt them up to your car.Bucket seat increases the style of the car.
4th gen seat brackets are virtually the same as 3rd gen brackets, so 3rd gen brackets would fit just as easily as 4th gen brackets.
And....No 3rd gen has ever come from the factory with a bench seat.
Well that about kills my hope haha, I've just always like those old school seats. But I'll probably buy some new sport seats.
It is YOUR car, not ours.
If YOU like them, and YOU want them, then do it. We don't have to like it. We're not the ones riding in it. We don't have to agree with or even like your choices. Only YOU do.
I can see how a couple of posts indicated that they may be "rare" in the Mopar community & you could possibly buy them cheap, resell them, buy new/different seats & have still have cash left over. Something to think about. More $ = more mods!
Well I was only going to buy them if I could pull a clean set from a junkyard or buy a cheap set from somebody. I do like the style of the 72 roadrunner seats, but I don't like them enough to hunt everywhere for them, or spend more than I would on brand new sport seats, or 4th gen seats, I'm looking at some leather 4th gen seats right now, I guess we'll see what happens, I'm keeping my options open.
