i bought a 87 iroc and the door panels were trashed from years of leaky t-tops and the backing when i took if of just disintegrated and there was mold all over the back part the fabric is in really awesome shape can you buy backing board for the cars and redo it your self and or just take it to a professional and have them do it whats you r guys opinions or do you all have any suggestions for me thanks
You can do it yourself, but you'll need something for a template. The board itself you can get at Home Depot(probably Lowes too). At the one near me at least, its with the plywood and goes by a bunch of different names, Hardboard, Hardi-board, etc. Its smooth on one side and has a pretty rough texture on the backside.
Actually, I haven't done it yet. Its on the list of things to do when I get around to the interior. To answer your question about the bars, my car doesn't have those. My factory panels are just flat with carpeting on them.
yeah i thought mine were too but when i took the cloth part off those ribs were there and then i saw the thread on hear about the ribs and on my car there supposed to be there
I believe they were an IROC/Z28 only thing. I remember a friend of mine had an 85 IROC and an 89 RS and only the 85 had the bars on the door panel. I haven't really paid much attention to it really as I'm not a fan of them, but at the same time my door panels look too plain without them.
